         GOTHAM WEEKLY NEWS #134

         Friday 16th June 2000

*************************************************************

This week DC announced the launch of it’s own Internet based comics. One of the first titles to hit the web will be GOTHAM GIRLS featuring Batgirl, Catwoman, Harley and Poison Ivy. See “On-Line Happenings” below for more information.

DC also announced its plans for the San Diego Con this week and a list of the members of the Bat office attending can be found in the “Meet The Bat –Team” section below.

For Chuck Dixon fans, I’d recommend a look at the latest “Pipeline” column at Comic Book Resources.( http://www.comicbookresources.com ) which discusses his work on BIRDS OF PREY, NIGHTWING and ROBIN in detail.

As always, have a great week.

HARLEY SLIPS A MONTH

----------------------

DC Comics' ongoing Harley Quinn series will begin this year, but maybe just a little later than originally intended, writer Karl Kesel told The Comics Continuum website (http://comicscontinuum.com/index.htm).

"As far as I know, Harley will start in November," Kesel told The Continuum. "Originally it was going to start in October, but there's some big JLA thing they're pushing that month. By delaying Harley for a month, we've been told we'll get a big push.  "The book really deserves it-- Terry and Rachel Dodson are doing amazing work!"

Said editor Matt Idelson of the series: "It's really strange because it has a lot of comedy and a lot of dark elements to it."

LATE SHIPPING

GOTHAM GIRLS ONLINE ANIMATION ANNOUNCED

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

In mid July Warner Bros. Online is launching a new web sitewww.gothamgirls.com that will feature original animated shorts with Batgirl, Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn.

Each original cartoon will run approximately three minutes in length, and will use Flash animation to show off the characters in interactive stories. New episodes are scheduled to appear on a regular basis.

The first installment of Gotham Girls, "The Vault," finds Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn on an antic-filled, safe-cracking caper.

The Gotham Girls site will also include:

-          Spread the Word, a community area designed with Web cards, e-mail-a-friend functionality, chat and message boards.

-          Gotham Girls Exposed gives a glimpse into the world of the Gotham Girls, providing a detailed orientation of each girl's personality and delves into why Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn are just so very good at being very bad and why Batgirl is determined to thwart their efforts.

-          Win Big -- Gotham Girl Art Contest asks users to submit their artwork of a character they create and design (artists from Warner Bros. Online and DC Comics will select the winner based on creative merit). The winning entrant will have their character incorporated into a future Internet Gotham Girls short.

-          Gotham Loot gives users downloadable images, audio files, wallpaper and screen savers.

-          Harley's Funhouse Arcade houses interactive games featuring all of the Gotham Girls.
