BATMAN #577
Written by Larry Hama; art by
Scott McDaniel and Karl Story; cover by McDaniel.
Even Batman has to keep up with the household chores when it
appears the Batcave has a rodent problem that keeps setting off alarms. As he
and Alfred combat the pesky rats, could there be another problem lurking in
storm conduits deep under Wayne Manor? Could there be a trio of high-tech
crooks looking to break into the estate to make off with some hefty hock-ables? Or could it be something else altogether? (32 pages,
$1.99)
CATWOMAN #80
Written by Bronwyn Carlton; art by Staz
Johnson and Wayne Faucher; cover by Brad Rader.
Catwoman's hit
bottom, and she's hit hard. As readers know, Catty is going to jail. What they
don't know is how she'll react to it -- and neither does she. The power
structure is stacked against her, and she has to learn a whole new way of
surviving adverse conditions. And unlike when she was a street orphan, there's
nowhere she can run. Can her already battered psyche take it? The result is not
going to be pretty. (32 pages, $1.99)
NIGHTWING: LOVE AND BULLETS TP
Written by Chuck Dixon; art and cover by Scott McDaniel and
Karl Story.
A collection reprints Nightwing #1/2, #21-22 and #24-29,
including appearances by Robin, the Huntress, the vigilante called Nite-Wing and the literally twisted villain named Torque.
(208 pages, $17.95)
YOUNG JUSTICE: SINS OF YOUTH #2
Written by Peter David; art by Todd Nauck
and Lary Stucker; cover by
Mike Wieringo and Terry Austin.
The battle of the ages concludes in an extra-sized issue.
The heroes regroup for a final showdown with Klarion
and the Agenda, but it's hardly a kiddie fight. The
Witch Boy has a surprise planned with the villains he's collected, but if that
fails, the Contessa has an ace up her sleeve that
might surprise even Klarion. And there's one last
twist at the end that will make a lasting impression on Young Justice.
(48 pages, $3.95)

NEAL ADAMS TURNS UP HEAT OVER STOLEN ART.
------------------------------------------
Legendary Batman artist Neal Adams recently announced that
he is upping his efforts to recover examples of his originla
artwork that he considers to be stolen.
In an announcement on his web-site
(http://www.nealadams.com) and in news items posted on Newsrama
and the Comicon websites, Adams has appealed for fans
and dealers to return any pages of original art that they may possess or report
where they see his pages on display or for sale. While some art has begun to
resurface and be returned to Adams, many dealers refuse to return the artwork.
In response, Adams has gone to the New York City Police with a list of original
comic art dealers suspected of trafficking his original art, which he maintains
is stolen goods. Adams says that the pages in question were taken by DC
employees as well as persons in his own studio over the years and resold
numerous times to both fans and original art dealers. Adams insists that the
pages in question are still his property.
Some of the artwork still declared as missing include:
·
Batman #237 – “Night of the Reaper,”
page 1
·
Batman #255 – “Moon of the Wolf”, pages
1,2,3,4,5,15,16,17,18
·
Brave and Bold #93 – “Red Water,
Crimson Death”, pages 13,14,18
·
Detective Comics #397, pages
3,4,5,9,14,15.
Neal Adams has sold some original art over the years and it
is authenticated as such on the reverse and not subject to the investigation.
Pages can be returned to Adams at: 62 West 45th Street, 10th
Floor; New York, NY 10036.

BATMAN AT THE OSCARS
--------------------------------------
The Comics Continuum reports that “The second of three
Batman live-action commercials for OnStar will
premiere this Sunday during ABC's telecast of the Academy Awards.
The commercial is titled "Minor Setbacks". Here's
how it is described.
"Before swooping down the side of a Gotham City
skyscraper, Batman uses his wrist communicator to ask an OnStar
Advisor to unlock the door of the Batmobile. The
cockpit canopy slides open just long enough for Batman to drop into the
driver's seat and roar away in the Batmobile. Seconds
later, the 'low fuel' warning light prompts Batman to contact his OnStar Advisor for the nearest filling station with jet
fuel."
"We are pleased that the second commercial in this
terrific campaign will premiere during the worldwide broadcast of the Academy
Awards this Sunday night," said Joel Ehrlich, senior vice president, DC
Comics promotions and advertising & Warner Bros. consumer products
promotions. "As one of the greatest superheroes of all time, Batman has
become a celebrity in his own right and it is fitting that this debut will be
part of such a star-studded evening." All three Batman commercials were
directed by Andrew Davis, who also directed The Fugitive. The visual effects
for the commercials are being supervised by William Mesa of Flash Film Works.
Mesa is a long-time collaborator with director Davis and producer Peter
Macgregor-Scott, having worked on The Fugitive and Batman and Robin.
