NEW HARLEY QUINN TITLE
----------------------
Writer Karl Kesel recently told the Comics Continuum web
site that he is "thrilled" to be working on DC Comics' new Harley
Quinn series that will launch next year. Artist Terry Dodson will join him on
the title. "Terry and I are looking
forward to playing around with the cool Bat-Character and have Harley interact
with a lot of the rest of the DCU, too!"
Kesel added "For better or worse, to this day I've
never seen an animated episode with Harley in it," Kesel said. "My
interest in the character comes completely from Paul Dini's and Bruce Timm's
Mad Love one-shot -- one of the best comics of the decade, in my opinion.
Dini's recent Harley one-shot moved the character into the 'real' DCU, but
still left a lot to figure out. In
addition, (editor) Matt (Idelson), Terry and I had to move the character from
being a second banana to being able to carry her own series. I believe we've
come up with some extremely interesting - and maybe even innovative -
solutions. The book will be a wild, wacky ride - I honestly don't think there's
any other comic like it out there!"
NEW JLA ART TEAM GOES EXCLUSIVE
------------------------------
Artists Bryan Hitch and Paul Neary have signed an
exclusive two-year contract with DC Comics. Hitch and Neary will join writer
Mark Waid on JLA. Hitch and Neary also collaborated with Waid on JLA: Heaven's
Ladder, an oversized book. Their first
JLA worked will appear in the Heaven's Ladder special.
"Widescreen high-octane action is what has helped
make JLA the most influential book on the stands - but that's only part of what
Bryan and Paul will be contributing," said JLA editor Dan Raspler.
"Personally, I'm very excited to see them sink their teeth into great DC
characters. Mark Waid is writing some very challenging character pieces, and
I'm delighted to have such masters of subtlety, mood and 'acting' providing the
artwork."
