BATMAN - MAN OF THE CENTURY!!

COMIC BUYERS GUIDE announce the results of its "Favorite Character Of the Century" poll in #1356. And the clear winner was BATMAN. In fact the Dark Knight came ahead in all three voting categories.

He received 21% of the votes from CBG subscribers, 23.3% of the Comics Professionals votes and 23.7% from comics fans.

VOTE FOR NEW "MILLENIUM" EDITIONS ON-LINE

DC has announced that fans can now vote for future "Millenium" reprint editions on its website at http://www.dccomics.com . Each month a list of 5 issues will be nominated.

 

Among this months is

 

Detective Comics #395. "The legendary collaboration of writer Dennis O'Neil and artist Neal Adams on the Dark Knight began with this 1970 issue's haunting story 'Secret of the Waiting Graves'."

 

The winning selection from this first batch of choices will be announced online November 19 and the first "reader's choice" reprint will ship in March 2000.

 

BATMAN MOVIE SERIAL ELSEWORLDS

Bob Layton and Dick Giordano the creators of this years "Batman: Dark Knight Of The Round Table" Elseworlds are currently working on a new Batman Elseworlds entitled 'Hollywood Knight.' It's set in the 1940s and revolves around the making of the Batman Saturday matinee serials. 

 

Layton told The Comics Wire that "I will be writing and legendary Batman illustrator Dick Giordano will pencil and ink. The three-part story will appear in 'The Legends of the Dark Knight' title. No specific issue numbers have been assigned as of this moment," Layton continued. "The story revolves around the actor/producer of Gotham Pictures who plays Batman in the serials. After a clash with the mob and a corrupt studio exec, the actor is shot, execution-style, and left for dead. However, he miraculously survives ... but awakens with no memory other than being ... The Batman. "Believing that he IS the Caped Crusader, he begins a path of vengeance through Tinseltown's Underworld that leads him to Hollywood's most elite movie exec ... Jack 'The Joker' Napier
