BATMAN: LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT #125
Written by Greg Rucka; art by Rick Burchett and James
Hodgkins; cover by Jim Aparo and Jesse Delperdang.
The long-awaited confrontation between Jim Gordon and the
Dark Knight comes on the eve of the final conflict that will change the destiny
of "No Man's Land." After Batman committed the ultimate betrayal,
abandoning Gotham in its time of greatest need, James Gordon wrote the hero
off, shunning any efforts made at reconciliation. Now the Dark Knight is
determined to win his friend back at any cost -- even if it means revealing his
true identity to regain Gordon's trust. (32 pages, $1.99, ships on Nov. 3.)
BATMAN: DOA
Written and illustrated by Bob Hall; cover by Hall.
Infected with a lethal virus created by a scientist hired
by the Joker, Penguin and Two-Face, the rapidly deteriorating Batman has only
24 hours left to live ... precious little time to find a cure and rescue a
kidnapped little girl whose life is on the same timetable. As the terrorist
group that has taken the girl hides from the Dark Knight's search, Batman finds
that the virus is taking its toll on his mind as well as his body. Fighting his
way through pain and delirium, Batman turns all his personal resources to
saving the kidnap victim and finding a cure before time runs out for them both.
But even with the help of Robin, Oracle, and the Gotham City Police Department,
one truth remains: 24 hours is not enough time...and it's all Batman has left.
(64 pages, $6.95, ships on Nov. 3.)
BATMAN: GOTHAM ADVENTURES #20
Written by Scott Peterson; art by Tim Levins and Terry
Beatty; cover by Bob Smith and Beatty.
A new cereal called "Eden's Own" has taken
Gotham City by storm, but there's a serpent hiding behind the all-natural
breakfast choice of millions ... and her name is Poison Ivy. Now Batman has to
find out if there's more going on here than meets the eye -- or tongue. (32
pages, $1.99, ships on Nov. 3.)
BATMAN/DAREDEVIL
Written by Alan Grant; art and cover by Eduardo Barreto.
Batman/Daredevil opens with a seemingly simple heist
engineered by the Catwoman -- a robbery that gives the Kingpin the weapon he
needs to spread fear and anarchy throughout New York, with just a little help
from the Scarecrow. But when the Scarecrow double-crosses the Kingpin,
threatening his reign over the Big Apple's underworld, the crimelord has no
choice but to join forces with Daredevil and Batman as they fight to save the
city from slipping into fear-induced madness. But what terrors must all three
men overcome to defeat a foe who can instill fear in anyone -- even the Man
Without Fear? (48 pages, $5.95, ships on Nov. 3.)
BIRDS OF PREY #13
Written by Chuck Dixon; art by Greg Land and Patrick
Zircher; cover by Greg Land and Brian Stelfreeze
A guest-star packed issue finds Black Canary and Catwoman
trapped on Apokolips. Stranded along with the Canary and the Cat: a group of
super-villains with no hope of getting home. The ladies go on a desperate
search for a Mother Box while, on Earth, Oracle calls in unexpected help in the
search for Black Canary: Power Girl. (32 pages, $1.99, ships on Nov. 3.)

CHANGES IN THE BAT OFFICE
--------------------------
As No Man's Land ends and a new era dawns in Gotham, so
does one at the DC editorial offices following the departure on long time
Batman editor Darren Vincenzo.
When asked about his departure, Darren told GWN, "I
had a heart-to-heart with myself and decided that my plan was not to edit comics
for the rest of my life. I weighed numerous factors relating to how good a job
I could continue to do, given this fact as well as the difficulties inherent in
editing comic books these days. After all that, I decided now was the time to
move on. I had a brief discussion with my bosses about what it might take to
keep me at DC but there was no "offer I couldn't refuse" so I'm
leaving to make my mark somewhere else.
Going freelance will allow me to spend more time with my
two kids in addition to helping me take advantage of some unexplored
opportunities as a writer and creator. I have a few tentative projects with DC
and I hope to explore some creative venues outside comics (TV, animation,
books). I'm excited by these new challenges and I look forward to forging a
name for myself on the other side of the desk."
Darren has been a long time supporter of GWN and we wish
him all the best in his new career.
The new Senior Editor in the Batcave is Bob Schreck who
joined DC from ONI Comics a few months back.
