MOVIE NEWS

***********

MARTIX STAR TO DON COWL?

-----------------------

According to the Empire Online website Matrix star Keanu Reeves has expressed a desire to don the Cape and Cowl for Batman 5. In an interview with Britain's TV

Times magazine he talked about the possibility of starring in Batman 5.

"It'll have to be dark, very somber." Reeves said in the interview. "Something that'll make people think twice about whether they're actually watching a Batman film or not...I want to see more about what makes [Batman] tick- Bruce is far more than just your average wacko."

He also insisted that the Jack Nicholson Joker would have to part of the deal, "'I would have to insist, and I mean most strenuously, that any Batman film I'm  involved in would have to have The Joker in it- absolutely, He's the archetypal bad guy, the Bat-nemesis. He's the dude with whom the Bat must battle- he's in the film, or I'm not! And Jack Nicholson has to do it again- definitely."

None of this is confirmed. It may only be the comics loving star expressing a wish as he did with the upcoming X-Men movie which is now in production - without Reeve's involvement.

NO MORE REVENGE FOR THE JOKER

------------------------------

According to the Dark Justice web site the potential Batman 5 script BATMAN: JOKER'S REVENGE has been passed over by Warner Bros.

2001: A GOTHAM ODYSSEY ?

------------------------

According to the Flix mini-mag that recently shipped with Wizard #99, Warner Bros. publicist Jeff Walker declared that "I can safely say that there will be a Batman 5, but you won't see it before 2001."
