COMICS NEWS

---------------------------

 - From the Michael Doran's Newsrama column comes the news that NIGHTWING will be the first mainstream DC

to crossover into THE MAN CALLED AX, this according to series creator/writer Marv Wolfman. In a post on AOL,

Wolfman announced Nightwing (a character he has a minor connection to through his TITANS days) would appear

in issue #7 of the series.

 - From "The Daily Planet" newsletter comes information that in the BATMAN regular series there will be another

multi part epic, There's a big shake-up in Gotham City in February when an earthquake strikes, a cataclysmic event

whose impact will be felt throughout the Batman family of titles in the months that follow. In addition to the impact

in BATMAN: SHADOW OF THE BAT, DETECTIVE COMICS, BATMAN, and BATMAN CHRONICLES, related titles such as AZRAEL, CATWOMAN,

ROBIN and NIGHTWING suffer from the aftershocks. The damage from the greatest natural disaster in Gotham City history

will also be felt in three one-shot specials, BLACKGATE, ARKHAM ASYLUM and SPOILER/HUNTRESS..

 - From the DC Comics Web site comes news of an new ELSEWORLD'S FINEST: featuring  SUPERGIRL & BATGIRL .

In a world where Superman's rocket carried a lifeless body and James Gordon and his wife died facing Joe Chill,

the greatest heroines of a very different DC Universe struggle to find common ground as they face Luthor and the Joker.

plus John Byrne returns to his Elseworld's version of Batman in SUPERMAN & BATMAN: GENERATIONS -

Which follows the lives of Superman and Batman in a world where the heroes began their careers in the years that they

first appeared in comics (1938 and 1939, respectively). As conceptualized by writer/artist John Byrne

(BATMAN/CAPTAIN AMERICA), GENERATIONS watches as the world we know is drastically altered over the course of sixty years

of super-heroics, with each decade-long "chapter" reflecting the dominant comic-book style of the era --

from vigilante mystery-men to high-camp, from "grim-and-gritty" to "new fun" comics.

 - Also look out for BATMAN: THE SCOTTISH CONNECTION by Alan Grant. A trip to Scotland takes some unexpected turns for

Bruce Wayne as he visits his family's ancestral burial ground and discovers a mystery. To solve it, he'll need the help

of both a local costumed hero and Azrael, who is shocked to learn that a gang of hoods has access to the original

formula used in his own creation. and BATMAN/HELLBOY/STARMAN, in this thoroughly offbeat crossover we get to see the

return of Mike Mignola's popular interpretation of the Dark Knight in BATMAN/HELLBOY, a story that finds Hellboy coming

to Gotham to investigate neo-Nazi activity.Visiting scientist Ted Knight winds up kidnapped, and the story continues in

STARMAN/HELLBOY, as Knight's son, Starman, teams with Hellboy on a rescue mission in the Amazon jungle.

Co-published with Dark Horse Comics.

CLOONEY ON "BATMAN & ROBIN"

--------------------------------------------------------

The following is an extract from an interview that recently appeared in a group of regional newspapers in the north

of England. George Clooney gives his reaction to Batman & Robin.....

"Warners  made some money and I'd never done a film that was very big internationally before but I'd be lying if I didn't

say it was a  disappointment in a lot of ways and there's been no talk of another one," he admits.

"It's gone very quiet over at Warners, you know." .... "If we did something a little different," he says.

"I'd be very interested in doing one which goes back to the original comic book and the story of a man who gets up

in the morning and has to decide whether he's gonna be good or evil. Of course, I don't know whether you'd sell a

ot of toys that way!"
