THIS WEEK'S MOVIE RUMOR

-----------------------------------------------

"BATMAN 5" A GO ?

A source on Harry Knowle's infamous "Aint-It-Cool News" web site reports that a " producer who is involved with the Batman Franchise at a very high level " has said that the next Bat movie will be released in 2000 and that "it would be much darker in tone (his words were 'much more like the first movie.' ) He also noted that they had enough material to do three more films."

The unnamed source also hinted at the possibility of a movie based on the Frank Miller interpretation of Batman. When asked about the rumored Director's Cut versions he indicated that these were unlikely as " not that much material had been cut from the films".

Adding substance to this story was an announcement on the October 13th edition of Access Hollywood which also said that the movie is scheduled for the year 2000. Apparently it also reported that George Clooney has signed on, he has admitted in several interviews that "Batman and Robin" was a bit of a disappointment. This time he went on to say he will watch the film several times closely and see what he can do to improve for the next movie, and added he will be studying the character further. Bob Daly, the man behind WB, admitted that the problem with Batman & Robin had been the crowded roster villains. He went on to say that Batman 5 will be much like the original "Batman" in that it will only feature one villain.
