| Spells and Magick |
| The practise of spells and magick are a large part of Wicca. They can and do work. They can take many forms but generally use the same format. Below are some simple ideas, they can be used as templates and changed to suit you. Enjoy, but please read the next note carefully before trying any of the spells. |
| Please note: as witches, we have a responsibility to the Gods and ourselves to treat magick with respect and use it wisely. It is against a witch's ethics to use magick to harm others influence someone against their will. Remember the law of three. Aryanna and I have agreed to leave out love spells from this section, as they are common, and one of the most often and easily abused. They can be dangerous and difficult to reverse. We may be including some hexes, more for interests sake than use, as they are fascinating in their way. |
| Words of Power This was adapted from an ancient Egyptian spell. It can be recited to raise power or calm yourself in difficult situations. Now as concerning the words of power and all the words which may be spoken against me, may each and every one of the company of the Gods withstand them. Behold, I gather together the words of power from wherever it is, swifter than greyhounds and quicker than light. I live by reason of the words of power which I have with me. Heaven hath power over its seasons, and the words of power have dominion over that which they possess; my mouth therefore shall have power over the words of power which are therein. I am wholly provided with thy magickal words, O Ra, those which are in the heavens above me and the earth beneath me. |
| House Blessing Spell This will create a secure, protected, safe enviroment for you and your family. Mix sea salt and water while saying: O Great Mother In your name we purify With water and with salt Cleanse this place of evil And fill it with Your love O Great Mother Make this cave a safe place A warm and dry place And shelter us from harm O Great Mother Make this house our home Sprinkle the water in every doorway, making pentagrams and visualing everything glowingin golden light as you pass. Consecrate corners and bless mirrors. Say: Evil shall leave but shall not enter Repeat this whenever you feel you need to, try to do it at least once a year. |

| Good Luck Spell Speak into the flame of a yellow, orange or green candle to expel bad luck and encourage good. Fire, fire burning bright Turn my darkness into light Take away my bad luck ill Bring me nothing but good will Bad luck came and stayed to long Be gone forever, be gone, be gone With this fire, burning bright Bring me good luck, bring me light So mote it be |
| Warning Spell To take control of a situation and to warn a difficult person not to push you too far - this won't hurt them! Say these words with the person in mind, imagine yourself screaming this into their ear. Blood turn black and flesh turn blue I will curse you if you force me to By the left hand and the unclean food I'll curse your eyes, curse your lies I'll call down a plague of flies Blood go black and flesh go blue Evil from me and back to you My soul clean and yours on fire You mess with a witch, you get burned - liar! |

| Healing a Rift To help get friends or partners back together, or can also be done to strengthen a relationship. You need an apple, a knife and some long pins. Cut the apple in equally on half. Carve the peoples names or initials into each half, then put the apple back together. Imagine the two together again and the rift being ironed out, their relationship being reinforced and strengthened. Use the pins to seal the apples halves together, then bake the apple so it is whole again. |
| Writing your own spells Many witches choose to make up their own spells or adapt others as the power of a spell can be increased if it has a special meaning to the witch, and can be easier to remember. Some ideas to writitng your own spells: |

| combine several spells by other people and put your own personal twist on the result. Decide when best to cast a spell, considering the moon (see our moon page for information), the season, the time of day and so on |
| try reading poetry. Old nature and love poems are good. Also try some Shakespeare. Study correspondences, tools, runes, theTarot, astrology and herblore to get a good idea of what you can use for which purpose |

| have a spell outline which you can adapt to any purpose, such as: gathering needed tools, casting a circle, calling the quarters, invoking any deities, stating your purpose or request, raising energy, directing it torwards your goal with viualization, thanking deities and quarters, releasing circle and clearing up. This could also include setting up the altar or anything else you choose to do, such as using candles and stones |
