Checkerboard Scarf

This scarf has a checkerboard pattern with no side borders. I
knitted it for my dad for his birthday, and he loves it! The pattern
is quite simple and is a great project for beginners.

Yarn: Lion Brand Wool Ease (I threw out the band,
so I don't know the exact color, other than it is beige
with flecks of gray, navy and brown)
Needles: size 7
Gauge: no gauge calculated

Cast on 36 sts.
Rows 1-3: Knit all.
Rows 4-9: *K6, P6*, repeat from * to end.
Rows 10-15: *P6, K6*, repeat from * to end.
Continue in checkerboard pattern by repeating these sets of rows.
Make scarf as long as desired, then knit 3 final rows of garter stitch.
Cast off.

Notes: I did not add any side border to this scarf, so the edges curl
back and forth. This adds an interesting texture to the scarf. However,
if you would like the edges to lay flat, cast on 6 extra stitches
(42 sts) and knit the first and last 3 sts on every row.
