Cabled Winter Hat

I knitted this hat with 2 strands of yarn so it is extra thick and warm. Markus likes it better than the red hat I made him the year before because it's much warmer.

Yarn: Bernat "So Soft" in True Grey
Needles: use circular needles that get you the correct gauge (meaning I forgot which needle size I used...)
Gauge: 12 stitches = 4"

Cast on 66 sts with 2 strands of yarn.
Rows 1+2: *K1, P1*, repeat from *.
Rows 3-5: *K4, P2*, repeat from * to end.
Row 6: *Cable 4 back, P2*, repeat from * to end.
Continue cable pattern until hat measures 7".
Decrease once for every cable every other round, 11 times per round.
Decrease row 1+2: k2tog in each cable, knit a plain round, 55 sts remaining
Decrease row 3+4: p2tog in between the cables, plain round, 44 sts remaining
Decrease row 5+6: k2tog in the cable, plain round, 33 sts remaining
Decrease row 7+8: k2tog in the cable, plain round, 22 sts remaining
Decrease row 9+10: k2tog (one stitch will be part of the cable, one will be the purl in between), 11 sts remaining. If I calculated correctly, you should be left with 11 sts. Thread them on the yarn, knot and you're done!
