Aran Baby Sweater

Februar 7, 2006:
Here's the aran sweater for my cousin's baby Liam. It is a saddle shoulder sweater I designed myself with a cable running from the neck down the sleeve. I ran into trouble size-wise and it is much bigger than I anticipated, but I figure it's better too big than too small!
Yarn: Lion Brand Cotton Ease in "ice blue", which, I am so sorry to say, has been discontinued.
Needles: Size 7 circulars (I used size 24" for the body and 16" when I divide the front and back sections at the underarm), size 7 dpn for the sleeves, size 6 circulars for the neck.
Sweater size: 26" around the chest.
Gauge: 4.5 stitches = 1" over seed stitch, 5.7 stitches = 1" over cable pattern (don't as me why they're so different, I don't know!)

The start of the body in the round.

I then divided front and back at the underarm.
BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN CALCULATING YOUR GAUGE! Since the gauge over the cable pattern and seed stitch are different, you need to measure each area seperately when knitting this sweater. MAKE A TEST SWATCH!!! Do not skimp out on this step and start the sweater straight away. You will be so sorry you didn't make a swatch. Trust me. Seriously. I speak from experience. It's not very funny.
Stitches for neck front are on holder, right side is knit up to shoulder.
