| My name is Susan, and I am a recent graduate of the University of Illinois in the Library and Information Science department, and I now live in Pittsburgh, PA. I began knitting in February 2003 and have loved every minute of it! It all started because of a hand made crocheted blanket my Aunt Donna gave me for a wedding shower gift. It's such a wonderful blanket, lovingly made, and it inspired me to try my hand at something crafty. I went to the local library (a place EVERYONE should frequent, frequently!) and picked up a kids book on knitting and crocheting. My first attempts to knit were frustrating, but that's what happens when you try to teach yourself from a book. Then I checked out the video "Elizabeth Zimmermann's Knitting Glossary", and it completely changed my knitting life! If you haven't seen her video, I highly recommend it, especially the updated DVD version. (I credit Mrs. Zimmermann for teaching me to knit). Anyway, knitting is a central part of my life, and when I'm not knitting, I'm either looking at a knitting book or reading a western. My fave author (besides Elizabeth Zimmerman) is Louis L'Amour. |
