Materials needed
for each doll:
1 piece of
10" by 11" unbleached muslin (Note: Tearing the muslin will give a
more nautral look than cutting)
1
ball of fiberfill @ 2" in diameter
Heavy
quilting thread
2
1/2 inches of 1/2" pregathered lace
(optional)
Red
paint or red material scrap or red embroidery
floss (Optional)
To give the
muslin an antiqued look, dissolve 1 tablespoon of
coffee into 1 cup of hot water. Let cool, and soak muslin for several
minutes.
Allow to dry.
For head: Fold
one long edge of the muslin down about 2 1/2
inches. Place fiberfill between layers at center. Gather and wrap
thread
tightly around bottom of fiberfill ball to form a neck. Tie off.
For arms: Tie a
knot at each corner close to the head. It helps
to twist the fabric up a bit to make the loop for the knot.
If desired: tack
lace to the back of head
If desired:
paint, applique or embroider a small heart near the
bottom front of the 'dress'.
Another
cute idea is to gather a piece of flat lace in the
center and attach to the back to create wings.
