To become good at a job,you spend time learing, educating yourself, weather it is on the job or in a class room, what it takes for you to preform on the job to the highest of your capacity.Some people spend two, four, six years or more in a college. Why so that when they, graduate they can be qualified enough for a well paying job.They work overtime on the job putting in more than the required hours. Why? All so that they can get more money,or a promotion, or simply because the job requires them to do so.
From a relationship prespective, spending quality time with your partner is one of the most important, most critcal parts to having a good relationship. Not money, not gifts, not little love notes, nothing can ever replace spending quality time with your loved one. Why, becasue we as human beings we need to feel appreciated by someone, to feel wanted by someone and in order to feel wanted, time must be a factor, how would you feel if you loved one only saw you when they needed something and even then for only less than hour. You would probaly leave them and find someone else after a while, unless you are in a long distance relationship,and even then you must put in quality time whenever you can. Time is vital to the survival of any relationship.
But an even better illustration of the value of time, is the parent that spends no time with his or her family, the spouse nor the children. When you give more to your job than to your family, you will start to become a stranger to them. You will miss out on shaping their lives, on teaching the values that you yourself have, the time you do not spend with them will greatly influence thier lives. How, because they will find someone else to spend the time with them and that person will influence thier lives, for better or for worse. In fact television may be a larger influence in their lives than you are, television will replace you. With the amount of violence on television and the amount of "QUALTY" time children spend with watching television, is it any wonder that the morals of society are slowly but steadily degenerating. We can not have a good society unless we have good family stucture, which takes time and effort.
We spend time doing so much, for we all know that time lost is never found.We must use our time wisly to accomplish what we want. A question to you, how much time do you put into your relationship with God, how much time do you spend talking to him, listening to him, not out of habit but because you want to? How much time do you spend giving him praise, worshipping and exalting him, thinking about ways to please him, how much quality time do you spend with God?
What is prayer to you, is it just a habit or do you pray because you desire to? Many people get up every morning, get dressed and while in the shower say a quick prayer, never taking the time to think about what we say? Would you treat a love one in such a manner? God deserves quality time each day, and if you want to become a stronger christian, if you want more faith you must spend time talking to him in prayer. Not just vain repetitions, not just empty words,but words from your heart,from your spirit, honest and true to him. It is not how much you say but if you mean what you say,are you sincere? However communication is not a one channel operation, you must also allow God to speak to you in return.But we often get up when we say what we had to say, when do you take the time to listen to God? He wants you to be in his presence and hear him, to give you instruction. All wisdom comes from God, if you want to be wise spend your time in the presence of the Lord. There is peace when you just stand still, be quiet and let God speak to you.
Meditate, study, memorize the word of God.It is our instruction for life. We must take the time to learn how God would have us to live, what he would have us to know. Sometimes it may mean reading the same scripture over and over again untill you understand it. The best way to learn anything is ever is to invest time and effort into it.Nothing done halfheartedly is done well,in order to accoplish the best, you must put your best into it.No one goes to school and does well without studying, utlizing time and applying effort in order to learn what is neccesary to pass a test. Life is our test, in order for us to pass it we must follow the instructions. Each and everyday we must take the time to read our guidline,our instruction and we must apply it.If you want to be a mature christian,an effective christian, we must follow the guidelines and spend time in God's word.
