I enjoy...

... scuba diving On June 15th 2003 I became a PADI ceritified Open Water Diver. I will never forget my first dive to 15 feet below the surface, where the water had temperature of 58 F! Brrrr!

... sailing I love it! There is a beautiful part of Poland located on North East of the country called The Land of Thousand Mazurian Lakes (Mazury is the formal name of the province). One fifth of the whole surface area of the region is covered by lakes, which are inter-linked by rivers and canals. These lakes are situated in exquisite countryside, and their banks are full of inlets and peninsulas, islands, and sometimes surrounded by forests. Two of the largest Polish lakes are in the Mazury region: Sniardwy (109.7 sq.km., up to 17 m. deep) and Mamry (102.4 sq. km. and up to 44 m. deep). If you want to sail through all the Mazurian lakes and canals you would have to make a 200 km trip!

But for me Mazury has different meaning: great time spend with friends playing guitar, singing and chatting by the fire until first sunbeam... curing last night hang over by swiming in cold water of the lake... canned-food diet and no TV or shower for the whole two weeks... :-) Life is beautiful!

... skiing I like to ski although I don't do it very often. I started as a 6-year-old but when after a few years my dad refused to buy me new skis I said I would never go again. I am a very consistent (or stubborn, if you prefer) person so I didn't go back on my word for long time. I got back on the ski slope as a highschool kid.

... traveling This is one of my favorite of the favorite things to do, especially when I am the driver. I love visiting places around the world. I have seen several European countries and part of Asia (Russia). Below are some pictures from my trips around Europe. StoneAge, UK,  Paris, France,  Prague, Czech Republic,  Milan, Italy,  and Stuttgart, Germany.

I have also seen a few places in the US.  New York, NY,  Atlanta, GA, and Philadephia, PA  Charleston, SC,  are some of them.

... movies I have a few movies I like to watch a lot. Matrix is one of them. I have seen it already more then 50 times! My favorite part is when the agent asks seized Neo to cooperate, but Neo answers: "I have a better offer: how about I give you the finger (and shows him THE finger) and you give me my phone call". I have to admit that Keanu Reeves is at least part of the reason I like the movie so much. :-)

My other favorite movies include: Good Will Hunting, As Good As It Gets, Benny & June (anyone who has it on a video tape contact me please!), Bridget Jones's Diary, Almost Famous, Shrek, Alien (all parts). I also like Monty Python movies and show Friends. They all seem rather diverse; some are very silly, and some pretty serious. But they have one thing in common: all are very good.

... books I love to read. This should be the first, not the last item on this page. I am in the middle of English version of Tolkien's trilogy now (have read Polish version a few years ago) but there is nothing more that can be said about these books. Everybody should read them at least once before college. :-)
If somebody asked about books that made an influence on my life, the following would certainly appear on the list.
'The Alchemist' by Paulo Coelho. I read it within 24 houres, and immediately grabbed 'The Fifth Mountain'. This one turned out to be almost as good as its predecessor. 'Veronika Decides to Die' also made a big impression on me.
I just got in college when I started to read Kosinski's books. And I continued for like 6 months! It must have been pretty good to draw me away from partying! 'Blind Date', 'Cocpit' and 'Passion Play' were my favorites. I also liked 'The Devil Tree' and 'The Painted Bird'.
Some of William Wharton's books would certainly make it on the list of "Ala's best", and those would include: 'Birdy', 'Tales of the Moulin du Bruit', and 'Tidings'.
There are also a few books that probably would not change anybody's life but were certainly fun to read. 'Bridget Jones's Diary', and its continuation, 'Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason' are some of them. If you liked the movie (and who did not?) - you will love the books.
