Koruna Mondal, a young girl of 18 years of Kumirmari, an island village in the Sunderbans (District South 24 Parganas in West Bengal, India) was suffering from a serious congenital heart disease called Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), detected in January, 2001. The estimated cost of surgery was Rs. 87000, which was an amount which his father, a  poor landless laborer would have never gathered. With your help Koruna was operated for her TOF on 28.11.2001 at Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bangalore by Dr. Devi Shetty and his group. The operation was successful. A homograft valve was needed for her operation. She was released from the hospital on 11.12.2001. Koruna is doing fine now.


 
 
 
 

devika.gif (71839 bytes) Devika Baidya, a  girl of 14 years lives in a small island village called Choto Mollah Khali. She was suffering from a congenital disease called the Arterial Septal Defect  . Devika Baidya was successfully operated in Rabindra Nath Tagore Institute of Cardiac Sciences. The partial cost of  surgery came from several voluntary organizations to which Devika-s parents appealed for help. The rest was provided by the money collected by us. Devika is doing fine now, she has rejoined school and one NGO is providing her an amount of Rs. 200 monthly for the expenses towards her education. 


 
 

Hrishikesh Mondal, a boy of 1 year 4 months, stays at Dayapur, an island village in the Sunderbans (PS Gosaba, District South 24 Parganas in West Bengal, India). Hrishikesh was suffering from a serious congenital heart disease called patent ductus arteriosus. Hrishikesh Mondal was admitted to Rabindra Nath Tagore Institute of Cardiac Sciences (RTIICS) on 24-07-2003 and operated successfully on 28-07-2003. 

The cost of the pre surgery profile was Rs. 4950. The operation costed Rs. 48,000. Thus, the total cost of the treatment being Rs. 52,950.

Family members of Hrishikesh approached several donor agencies including the government and an amount to the tune of Rs. 31,000 was collected. The rest 
 was provided from the fund we raised from you all. 

Hrishikesh is doing fine now!

    


Jhilam Pradhan, a little girl of 2 years, stays at Rajpur, an island village in the Sunderbans (PS Gosaba, District South 24 Parganas in West Bengal, India). Jhilam was suffering from a serious congenital heart disease called partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection along with  atrioventricular septal defect .  She was operated in October 2004 at RTIICS .
 The total cost of the surgery was around Rs. 70,000/- of which we paid Rs. 37,000/- and the rest was collected from different charitable trusts. Jhilam is doing fine. 

    

Sarmistha
 Sarmistha Mondol, a  girl of 7 years, was suffering from
moderate size secundum  atrial septal defect .  She was operated on 13th Nov. 2004 at RTIICS. The total cost of surgery was Rs. 95,000/- of which we have provided Rs. 10,000/-.
