DAILY CHORES
Morning Chores
Anytime before noon (yes, vlin knows there's alot of
them, but they really should be done before the Room gets busy and girls have to serve):
~Sweep out Great Room hearths (ashes carried to the compost pile),
~reload with firewood and revuild the fires
~Stoke and add wood to the cooking and warming fires
~Sweep and mop Great Room and servery floors
~Prepare fresh blackwyne; put fresh paga on the fires to heat (please rinse/wash the kettles *L*) and place discarded paga in the medicinal jug to be used for med kits
~Check the juices in the cold room, rotating for freshness; make more fresh fruit juices as needed
~Check pitchers of cold spring water, refill as needed
~Prepare breakfast and lunch (don't forget desserts)
~Fill the bowls of red and yellow sugars, and refill the small pitcher of bosk cream
~Wash any leftover dishes, utensils, drinking vessels (check for chips and flaws), pots/pans, etc. from the night before
~Clean the countertops and cooking/baking tops
~Check fruits and vegetables for spoilage (fed to animals)and rotate for freshness
~Pick fresh flowers and put in bowls/vases of water throughout the Great Room
~Feed and water the bosk, kaiila, and sleen
~Feed fresh grain and give water to the vulos
~Collect vulo eggs, washing and inspecting for cracks, putting them in the cold room, rotating supply for freshness
~Milk the bosks, putting fresh milk into pitchers in the cold room, rotating for freshness; skim milk fat off first, putting it into the churn (also in the cold room)
Afternoon & Evening Chores
Anytime after 1200 and throughout the night:
~Prepare dinner and desserts
~Check dry goods (flours and grains) - refill bins as needed
~Check in dry goods room for breads, muffins, biscuits - discard stale things and bake new goods as needed
~Replenish fresh fruit juices and spring water as needed
~Prepare fresh blackwyne throughout the afternoon and night (rinse/wash the kettles), and put fresh paga on throughout the afternoon/night as needed (discarded paga put into medicinal jug to be used for med kits)
~Keep servery and Great Room straightened and clean - wash dishes, drinking things, utensils, pots/pans, etc. as they accumulate, keep counter and cook tops clean, etc.
~Keep large tubs filled with cold water, and pails clean to be used to keep hot water for cooking and cleaning/washing of dishes
~Wash the previous day's rep cloths, hanging over fires to dry
~Keep firewood stocked for Great Room hearths, cooking and warming fires; stoke fires as needed
~Fill empty botas of paga and kalana (hung on hooks in the servery when empty) - refill and place some paga botas over warming fires, place some kalana botas in cold room, some kalana and paga botas in servery for room-temp...and put a few botas of paga in cold room, just in case
~Check casks of ale and mead to ensure enough for day/night
~Last girl in the room at night...please collect all used
drinking/eating things and place in servery, straighten Great Room, let fires burn down
