Society
Gorn society is one of opportunity and advantage, the strong bully the weak and the clever get one over on the strong. Every citizen of the Gorn empire is out for themselves and puts their interests in the forefront. This doesn’t mean the a citizen of Gorn can’t have friends, fall in love etc. they can, but not to the same level that is enjoyed in other societies. Most of the populace of Gorn live in massive city-states, it is the only place where they can find any sort of work. Out in the countryside are large farms that are controlled by the various noble houses, they guard their farmland jealously. Food for the cities is a combination of crops from the farms and fungus that is grown underground in the city-states. Most of the citizens of Gorn are servants to one of the various noble houses, they work for sub-standard wages and are subject to the cruelty of the nobles. Every citizen must supplement their income, this in the vernacular, is called Grippe. One’s status within the society is often rated by how much Grippe one has. Every sort of vice and indulgence can be had for a price, and the price can be cheap. Drugs, prostitutes, children, slaves, and any sort of vice imaginable can be obtained for a price. This aspect of the Gorn society makes for easy money for those that can properly exploit it. Slavery is legal, as well as child labor, gladiatorial games and other forms of human bondage. The society can be best described as Machiavellian or in game terms Lawful Evil.
