So, what is all the buzz over investing in stocks and is it right for you? Well, stock investment has returned an average return of around 10% per year since 1929. Savings accounts are safe also you say, but at an interest rate of 1% per year, it is losing money over time to the ravages of the silent killer...
inflation. If one had $10,000 in a savings account for 10 years with a 4% rate of inflation annually, that means that the buying power of that money would be reduced by 40% in that ten year periond (assuming the additing of no earnings). That is why one needs a rate of interest or dividends higher (ideally) than the rate of inflation to grow your money, or at least maintain your principal. Stocks have afforded the greatest rate of return over the long run more so than any other investment. A great site to better educate you on investing for your future is here.
