| Riders Briefing Youve got a licence, your bike is ready and youre signed up for your first race. Listen very carefully to what is being said at riders briefing. If there is no printed programme, take note of when your class is scheduled to practise and its position in the race order. Familiarise yourself with where the start line is and the operation of the start gates. Also be clear about where the finish line is and where you are expected to exit the track at the end of the race. Never turn straight off the track after passing the finish flag! There should be a run off area after the finish where you can reduce your speed before turning off the track. On The Track You will get a practise before racing starts proper. Use this time to familiarise yourself will the track and take special notice of any potential hazards. If you are planning to be in a particular position on the track on the approach to a jump make sure you have it planned well ahead and do not change your line at the last second. A slower rider changing his or her line unexpectedly into the path of a faster competitor could result in a bad accident. MORE TO COME - Miles Any comments - [email protected] |
