Chapter 6
The Rules

It has come to our attention that in the second printing of the "Gorean females handbook," that you were all issued upon entering Gor, a crucial page was omitted. This should clear up any confusion you have about what is expected of you.

The Rules:

1) The Male ALWAYS makes the Rules.

2) The Rules are subject to change at any time without prior notification.

3) No female can know all the Rules.

4) If the Male suspects that the female knows all the Rules, He must immediately change ALL the Rules.

5) The Male is never wrong.

6) If the Male is wrong, it is due to misunderstanding, which was a direct result of something the female did or said wrong.

7) If Rule 6 applies, the female must apologize immediately for causing the misunderstanding.

8) The Male may change his mind at any time.

9) The female must never change her mind without the expressed written consent of the Male.

10) The Male has the right to be upset or angry at any time.

11) The female must remain calm at all times, unless the Male wants her to be angry or upset.

12) The Male must under no circumstances, let the female know whether or not he wants her to be angry or upset.

13) The female is expected to mind read at ALL times.

14) If the Male has a hangover, all Rules are null and void.

15) The Male is ready when he is ready.

16) The female must be ready at all times.

P.S. For this grievous offense..... the printer has been impaled.

Of course...

Now that we know all of the rules...
as stated in Rule #4...
they will all be changed immediately.

While "The Rules" was somewhat tongue in cheek, there is also a seed of truth there.

Acceptance is crucial here for women both slave and free. We are raised in a gender-neutral society. It is ingrained in us from birth that "fair is fair." While our biological urges might dispute that, a lifetime of learning is not something that is forgotten overnight.

The impulse to cry "that's not fair!" is a difficult one to squelch after thirty some years of learning. Accepting that the genders are not equal (nor should they be) is crucial to the development of a Gorean woman.

There are also many men who would look at those rules and agree with each and every one of them. Struggling to shove all women into their pre-conceived mold of what a woman should be. Forgetting that each and every woman, whether slave or free is an individual. Not every Gorean free woman aspires to be Mother Theresa, nor does every slave strive to become nothing more than a sexual toy.

We are women. Vibrant, vital, spirited females. Drawn here in a desire to be near strong, uncompromising males. Some free, some slave... but each gloriously unique in her own way. To paint us all with a broad brush and attempt to shove us into one single mold is to deny the unique and individual spirit of every woman. And the men who do this, deny themselves the joy of discovering the light that shines in each woman.
