Bringing home the Christmas Tree
I created this image while reflecting on my own youth, growing up in Sudbury, Ontario.
We went tree hunting almost every year with my dad and our neighbours, the Israelsons. Art Israelson was a lumberman amongst his many talents and took us to his timber lot where we felled our trees for Christmas. We usually brought down a 30 or 40 foot tree to get the top which was shapely and full and loaded with pine cones. They made a great start to the decorating, and helped create that wonderful feeling and aroma of nature in our home at Christmas. We didn't seem to have much, but we knew how to appreciate our friends and their company, which made us feel rich.
