| Chapter 9 Quinn was sitting at home that night, she glanced over at the clock figuring the guys would be on stage in the next hour so. She told Larry she couldn't make it tonight but hopefully tomorrow night. In all honesty she didn't try to get a babysitter, she didnt want to ask someone to watch her infant while she went to see the Backstreet Boys, she would feel so unfit as a mother. She couldn't get over Nick, his hair was longer than it had been in a long time and he looked cute in his jeans and his polo shirt, his brown shoes even matched his shirt. She smiled, there was no way he put that outfit together by himself. She shook her head as a hand waved before her face, "Hey, did you hear me?" She looked over to see a smiling James next to her, "Oh sorry, what did you say?" He shook his head, "You're out of milk I'm going to go get some more what else do you need?" She shook her head, "You don't have to do that." He was so nice, always offering to do things to help her, to make her "life just a little easier." he had once said. He nodded, "Yes I do, besides what are you going to do when Mac gets hungry?" Quinn shook her head all the while making a mental note to never leave him alone with Mac, "She's doesn't drink that type of milk honey." He smiled, "Oh." He shook his head and smiled as he walked out the door, "Be back." Just as she was about to give him more praise he closed the door a little loud and soon Mac was crying. She walked into her room and picked her up, taking a seat in the rocking chair Elliott bought and had delivered, "Hey beautiful. Do you remember seeing your dad last night? He's looking better than ever. If you're lucky, you'll look like him." So many times Quinn just wanted to place Mac in Nick's arms, maybe if he held her he would have felt something. If nothing else she could get a little sense of what he felt for her daughter, if he had smiled and played with her maybe that would have helped to ease her fears about telling him. She stood up and walked into her room, taking an old magazine out of a storage box then went in the living room and put on a Backsreet Boys CD before walking back in Mac's room. She sat back down and sighed as she closed her eyes and began to rock back and forth, "If nothing else your dad is a part of history. You'll always get to see pictues, videos and hear him sing." She opened the magazine and held it open to a picture of Nick and Kevin on the red carpet as More Than That softly made it's way into the room, "Mac, your dad had turned me into the biggest sap." She jumped and clutched Mac closer to her as someone was trying to take her away, "What the-" "Hey, it's me, it's ok." She strained her eyes and looked up, "James?" He nodded his head and she struggled to wake up, "You fell asleep holding Mac. I can't believe you didn't drop her." She looked down and shrugged, "How long were you gone?" He looked at his watch, "About twenty minutes. He saw the magazine in her hand and rolled his eyes, "You and the Backstreet Boys." She nodded as she realized the CD had stopped, "If you ever met them I'm in trouble." She frowned, "What do you mean?" He followed her out of the room, "Because if you did, you'd probably leave me and run off with them." He stopped laughing when she didn't laugh or even smile at his joke, "What? It was just a joke." She shook her head, "I know, I'm not mad. But I've already met them and as you can see, I'm here with you." He gave her a puzzled look as she continued, "I'm friends with one of their security guards, that's all." He nodded, "Cool, I'm going to get out of here. I have to be up early in the morning." She smiled, he and and a couple of his friends were ditching work the next day to take part in some fishing competition. She walked into his arms, kissing him briefly, "Bye and good luck tomorrow." He smiled, "Thanks, I love you." She smiled faintly, "Love you too." He placed his hand on the side of her face, "Go to bed, you look tired." She nodded and gave a grateful smile as she closed the door behind him. She was walking back into her bedroom when she stopped in her tracks, she thought she heard something. She listened and her heard cell phone ringing, "Hello?" A familiar and comforting voice came through the phone, "Hi doll face, how are you? I didn't wake the little one did I?" She smiled as she sat on the couch, "I'm fine and no you didn't wake her. How did you know she was sleeping?" she kidded. He laughed, "Because that's all she does. Tell her to hurry up and get older so she can do stuff." Quinn sighed, "Actually I'm liking this quiet, innocent, don't talk back phase. Let me enjoy it for as lomg as I can." Elliott laughed, "Oh yeah, I can say 'ok, go to your mother' you can't." Quinn groaned, "Yeah, exactly. So what are you up to?" She and Elliott went through a tough time after she admitted to him she not only went home with Nick that night after the club but she slept with him and cheated on her boyfriend. When he found out John walked in on her having sex with Nick he hit the roof, telling her she was no better than any of the other girls. It wasn't until he found out that she was pregnant that he was able to really talk and get over the anger he had for her and what she did, "So the Backstreet Boys are in town. Heard your baby daddy on the radio this morning. Why aren't you at the concert?" She shook her head, "Concert isn't exactly the place for a little baby." She knew he was calling to try and make her tell Nick about Mac, "I'll watch Mac for you if you want to go tomorrow night." She smiled, what a friend, "Are you serious?" "Yep, on the condition you tell Boy Wonder he's a father." No sooner did her spirits go flying high, they crashed back to Earth, "Forget it Elliott." He sighed, "Why not, its the perfect time. He's here in Miami, you can show Mac off to him." She smiled, "He's already seen Mac." She smiled as he stuttered through his reply, "What...what do you mean he's seen her? How? When? What did he say?" She calmly responded, enjoying taking her time knowing that he was on pins and needles on the other end, "Last night I went out to dinner with Larry, Kristin, Kevin and Howie. They brought Nick along, thought it would be a cool surprise. I could tell he didn't know I was going to be there. Anyway, they all got to see Mac." Elliott sighed heavily, "And you didn't tell him then? What is wrong with you Quinn? He has a right to know, Mac has a right to have him and he needs to be paying for her, that's his daughter AND his repsonsibility." She sighed as she turned off the TV as she took yet another ass chewing because of Nick. Chapter 10 Reunited Home |
