They walked in the waiting room and her mouth wanted to hit the floor. She had just laughed at something Nick had said and she wiped the smile off her face when she saw James turn at the sound of people walking in the room. Along with him were Elliott and her parents. She walked over and hugged her dad before going over to James and giving him a perfunctory hug.
�Hi J.� He looked over her shoulder then gave her a kiss on the mouth. She hadn�t brushed her teeth again, used more mouthwash or even drink anything since Nick kissed her. Would he be able to taste Nick? Smell Nick? Know that she had been kissing someone else? She was nervous and it was apparent.
�Are you ok?� She nodded at his question but it wasn�t enough for him,
�Did he do something to you?� She frowned and hissed quietly,
�What? No James good grief. What is wrong with you? Please stop looking for an excuse to be angry with Nick. He�s never done anything to you.� She walked away from him and sat next to Elliott,
�Hi.� It seemed like it had been a life time since she had seen him but it had only been three days. He didn�t come by the hospital everyday, and that was ok because she didn�t expect him to, but he did call through out the day.
�Hey. What�s Nick doing here? Is he bothering you?� Now that she wasn�t angry at him she could see how blatant their anger towards Nick really was,
�Elliott, he�s not bothering me. And he�s here because he�s MacKenzie�s father. He is exactly where he belongs so please drop it.� She stood up and walked out of the room to check on Mac and see if one of her daughter�s doctors was around.
