| Chapter 53 Quinn sat in the corner of the waiting room and her mother sat next to her shaking her head, Why didnt you tell us? Her mother didnt know everyone else knew that Nick was MacKenzies father and she was going to keep it that way. Her mother could be very abrasive and she didn't want her father and brother to have to deal with her mothers barrage of questions. I dont know mom, I should have told you and dad but I just didnt, Im sorry. She glanced around the room and everyone seemed to be sitting around in disbelief, You slept with a pop star? She hoped her mother didnt mean to make her feel like a whore, a groupie, What does that mean? Why does it matter what he does for a living? Lillian sighed, His lifestyle isnt very conducive for being an involved loving parent. She sighed, Mom, you liked him just fine before you knew he was Macs dad. Lillian nodded her head, As a friend, hes fine. As a father I dont think he would be fit. Quinn shook her head, Mother- Lillian raised her hand, No Quinn, there is no telling what type of drugs and other things he is into. Quinn knew that Nick dabbled in certain drugs and she knew he had a very carefree attitude regarding sex, Mother he is a good person. I wouldnt have been with him if he wasnt. Her mother shook her head and rolled her eyes, See, thats another thing. When were you with him? You never said anything about dating a celebrity. What was it? Just a sex thing? She wanted to cry, she didnt want to think about this, Mom, no. We were friends. Nick cares about me and I care about him. Hes a good person. The more Quinn spoke for Nick the more she felt she was helping her mother make a case against him, Ok Quinn if he was so good where was he all this time? This was probably the first time he ever saw Lily. Quinn shook her head, No, it wasnt. Hes seen her before. Lillians eyes stretched, How many times? She held her head down, Like twice. Lillian rolled her eyes, Twice in six months. Some father Quinn. Like I said before, hes not right for MacKenzie. She stood up and walked out of the room. Quinn looked around, thankful that no one had heard her conversation with her mother. She was ready to go look for James when she looked up to see Nick walking towards her. Great, she was just going to have it out with everyone she had any kind of issue with. Can I sit? She shrugged, Its practically your room anyway. She could tell it was taking all he had to not respond to her comment, Sorry about James finding out like that. She had no words for that, more than likely he didnt give a damn anyway. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly and loudly, I dont know how to say this so Im just going to say it. She looked over at him, almost daring him to say something stupid, Dont get mad at me ok? She crossed her arms, I cant promise that Nick. He sighed, I just want to ask you a question. She sighed loudly and she knew she was giving off a lot of attitude, Well ask the question Nick. He nodded and looked down at his lap, Did you talk to someone about me being MacKenzies dad? She looked over at him, her expression cold. She was disgusted by the question and even more by the implication that she would deliberately hurt him, Are you out of your fucking mind? How could you ask me something like that? Have I ever done anything like that to you? I could have done it a long time ago and sold my story. There could have been really cute shots of me and Mac posing for the camera on the cover a magazine instead of some shitty faraway pictures of me walking into the hospital with my brother. He raised his hands in defense, Im just trying to figure this out. Did anyone else, your family, your friends- How dare he question her or her family and friends, who had been there for his daughter more than he had, Shut up Nick. No one would do that. My family isnt like your mother. Speaking of, where is your family Nick? Your parents only grandchild is in the hospital and where are they? She stood up and walked out of the room. He had the audacity to question her loyalty to him. She had been there for him when he didnt deserve her. She put him ahead of the men in her life that actually loved her. He didn't love her but she had always been more than willing to compromise herself for him. She didn't compromise herself and her wants and needs for James and he was her fianc. She was walking down the hall when she felt someone approach her quickly and turned to see Chris walking beside her, Want to talk? She sighed, About what? Theres nothing to talk about. Chris placed her hand on Quinns shoulder, Lets go to the cafeteria and talk. Quinn rolled her eyes, What are you going to do? Threaten me with the food if I dont tell you what you want to hear? She laughed, Hey, that jello mold is kind of good. They were sitting in a corner of the cafeteria when Chris started the conversation again, So who messed up this time? You, James, Nick or a combination? Quinn looked up at Chris, Who always fucks up? Me and Nick. She nodded, Fucked up together or separately. Has to be separately because the only times you guys fuck up together is when you have sex and unless you snuck off to the laundry room I think I can rule that out. Quinn sighed, Sex is the last thing on my mind. Chris nodded, I know. So tell me. What happened? Quinn took a deep breath and took a quick look around the cafeteria before turning her attention back to Chris, I didnt tell James and my mother Nick was MacKenzies father. They just found out on the TV in there. Chris nodded, Ouch. Chris had told her many times to tell James and right now she wished she had listened to her, Elliott and her brother. Quinn nodded, Yeah, you saw him storm out of there, I need to find him and talk to him. Im so scared to do that. Hes going to be so mad and I know he has every right. Chris nodded, Itll take him some time but Im sure you guys will work through it. Quinn nodded in silence and remained that way until Chris asked about her other dilemma, And Nick? Whats wrong on that front? Quinns disposition changed and she became less upset and more angered, He thinks I went to the tabloids about Mac. Chriss eyes were wide, What? He actually accused you of that? Quinn sighed, In so many words. She shook her head and held her hand up, letting Chris know she didn't want to talk about it anymore.
