| Chapter 28 Quinn stood up with Mac then turned to Nick when the phone rang that night, "Can you change her please?" She placed her in his arms and he frowned, "Ah man, Quinn." She waved her hand and walked off with the phone to her ear, "Hello?" She closed her bedroom door, "Hey, how are you doing?" James asked. She sat on the bed, "I'm alright. Just relaxing." She wondered if she should tell him about Nick. He would flip if he knew another man was spending the night at her house, and rightfully so. But he'd be even more pissed if he found out about it after the fact. "So, what are you up to tonight?" She prayed he wasn't calling to say he was coming over, "One of my friends has an extra ticket to the Heat game tonight." Her heart raced, "You should go." She hoped she wasn't too quick with her response, "Ok, do you want me to stop by after the game?" She shook her head, "No, I'm going to try and go to bed early." She could hear talking in the background, "Ok, let me get out of here. They're rushing me. I love you." She smiled, "I love you too." She sat on the bed and played with her ring, what was she going to say to James. How was she going to explain that the guy that was in her house a month ago was the father and she didn't tell him. Her thoughts left her head when she heard Mac screaming, "Great, he probably put the diaper on her head." She walked back in the living room, "What happened?" She looked at the diaper and then up at Nick, "You haven't changed her yet?" He shook his head and sighed like a little kid who was just told to pick up his toys, "I just changed it" She sighed and shook her head, "Nevermind Nick." He could see the frustration on her face and held onto Mac as she tried to take her away from him, "Ok,ok, I'll do it." She rolled her eyes and took Mac, standing up, "Oh no Nick, I don't want you to overwork yourself on your break. Its been what?" she looks at her watch, "A whole 24 hours since you changed her diaper?" He rolls his eyes and laughed as he watched her walk into the nursery, then turned his attention to the TV. Nick and Mac were once again in Quinn's bed that night, "Does she sleep with you all the time?" Quinn shook her head, "No, but this is a special occassion." They looked into each other's eyes and he broke the silence, "Why did you like me?" She smiled, "Why do you keep asking me that? It's not like you don't have alot of people liking you." He shrugged, "Not girls like you." She wasn't sure what he meant by that, "What do you mean 'girls like me'?" His eyes showed the smallest bit of nervousness, "I mean, you're smart, you have your own things going on. You don't run off talking about me. I bet your friends Chris and that guy-" She finished, "Elliott." He nodded, "I bet they're probably the only ones that know I'm Mac's dad." She nodded, "Yeah." He shook his head, "See other girls would have told a whole bunch of people and eventually my business would have been all over because someone couldn't keep their mouth shut." She smiled, "Maybe girls like that do like you and are kind of like me. Not that I'm all that special." He shook his head, "Nope, you know who to trust. If you can't trust your friends then I couldn't trust you." She frowned, "I guess I understand what you're saying. Do you tell them to keep stuff to themselves? Maybe if you did they would be more careful." He smiled slightly, "Did I ever tell you not to say anything?" She shook her head, "No." He raised his eyebrows, "Well there you go. I shouldn't have to." He sighed and held Mac's foot in his hand, "But, nothing I've ever told anyone would be life or career ending so whatever. I mean, I would be pissed if some things came out but it wouldn't be the end of the world." He tapped her on the leg, "So, you never answered the question. Why did you like me?" She smiled and shrugged, "You were always funny to me, watching you in interviews, you just seem so laid back and not so uptight. And you have your moments, but overall you're a sweetheart. And-" she looked down at his lips, "I'd be a liar if I didn't admit that I'm very attracted to you." He licked his lips and she bit her own. As he leaned towards her she released her bottom lip from her teeth and licked her own lips before they began to kiss. She felt like electricity was surging through her body as his tongue entered her mouth. He placed his hand on her face and she moaned. She never thought this would happen again. Yes, the thoughts ran through her mind, especially when he held her the night before but she figured he wanted nothing more to do with her. She could feel Mac move beneath her, "We can't do this." He pulled just slightly but they were still painfully close, "Yeah, you're right and I don't have anything." She sighed and looked down at Mac, "All we need is to give her a little brother." She sighed, "Yeah, maybe I should sleep alone." He nodded, "Good idea." She picked Mac up and followed him out of the room, she placed her in her crib and saw Nick flipping the TV on the couch. She grabbed a few blankets and a pillow and handed them to him, "Here you go." He smiled, "Thanks." She woke up and felt the kisses on her neck, "What?" She struggled to gain her vision. The only light was from the TV that was still on, "It's Nick." She moaned as he kissed her on her mouth and the butterflies fluttered in her stomach. She turned her head, "Nick we can't. Besides, we don't have-" He kissed her ear as he whispered, "I took your truck, I got some." She frowned, how was she going to say no. Hell, he was her daughter's father. Not that it was a really good justification for cheating. She wanted so bad to be good and do the right thing, "Nick, we can't." His hand slid into her underwear and his fingers slipped inside her easily, she was ready. He looked down at her, "Just say you don't want to and I'll stop right now." Chapter 29 Reunited Home |
