Chapter 56

I spent the entire concert day with Eric while Chris and Marnie went shopping then spent a couple of hours with Nick in his room before he took a nap.  Here I am in Eric and Andre's room after the concert,
"Why aren't you at the club with everyone?"  I look over at Andre,
"Can't party every night."  He nods,
"I hear you."  Eric pulls me into a hug,
"What's wrong?  You seem a little down, you and Nick have an arguement?"  I look up at him,
"What makes you think that?"  He smiles,
"Let's see...you spent all day with us, certain times you didn't answer your phone.  I'm guessing that's when Nick was calling.  You told me you didn't want to talk to anyone when my phone rang and he asked about you tonight at the arena."  I had avoided Nick all day, I didn't know how I would react to seeing him and I definitely didn't want to be around him and Marnie,
"What?  You didn't want to hang out with me?"  He sighs and shakes his head as he smiles,
"Don't get mad at me.  You know you would have been hanging with Nick at least part of the day."  I bite me lip and nod my head,
"True, what...what did he say?"  He shrugs as he pulls the blanket over us in bed,
"He asked had I seen you and wanted to know if you were ok?"  I grunted and roll over so I can see the TV,
"Whatever."

There's a knock on the door and Andre hops out of bed,
"Quinn, it's for you."  I frown, who could know where I was, I didn't even tell Chris and Marnie Eric's room number and they were at the club with Nick, Howie and some of the dancers anyway.  I go over to the door to see Larry,
"Hey, Nick wants you."  I stand there for a moment and he sighs,
"Come on, he wants to see you."  I look at Larry and I know he and I have this understanding.  We both know I like Nick and we both know I'm torn, its just unsaid, but we know. However, we each know things the other doesn't.  He doesn't know I know about Marnie.  His loyalty lies with Nick, he would never rat on him.  Nick's secrets were safe with him.  Even if I did have something with Nick I would go crazy because I know how Nick is and I know Larry would never betray Nick's trust to warn me.  What does Larry know that I don't?  The one thing I want to know...how Nick feels about me.  I nod and go grab my shoes,
"I'm gonna head out."  Eric smiles,
"Tell Nick I said hello."  I roll my eyes and grab my shoes as I head out the door.  As we step into the elevator Larry turns to me,
"Where you been all day?"  I shrug,
"Hanging out with Eric."  He nods and I realize for the first time Nick isn't with the others, mainly Marnie,
"I thought Nick was clubbing?"  The elevator stop and we make our way to Nick's room,
"He only stayed about an hour then snuck out.  He wasn't feeling it."  He knocks on the door and it was like Nick was standing there waiting,
"Hey Winnie."  He wrapped his arms around me,
"You're drunk...surprise."  He rolls his eyes and turns to walk towards the couch in front of the TV.  As I walk into the room Larry pulls my arm,
"I know you've been around him a lot when he's been drinking but he's never as drunk as you may think he is."  I nod and turn towards Nick as Larry closes the door, letting me know he would be in his room.  The comment about Nick's drinking, was that advice or something, I walk over to the couch and sit next to Nick,
"So where you been all fucking day?"  I look over at him and there is nothing but shock on my face as I look at him,
"What's wrong with you?"  He shakes his head and stands up,
"I flew you out here and I don't even see you."  He pulls a beer out of the refrigerator,
"Do you want the money for the ticket?"  He whirls around so quickly he loses his balance and almost falls,
"No I don't want the damn money.  Where were you?  I called you and I called Eric, I left messages on your phone.  You didn't even call me back."  I sigh,
"I was just..."  Just what, avoiding him,
"Winnie, what's your problem?"  I watch him down half the beer at once,
"Why do you call me that?"  He walks back to the fridge, takes out another beer and places it on the coffee table,
"Because if you take off the Q in your name, its like win.  So I call you Winnie."  he sighs like it was common sense.  But of course makes perfect sense I think as I shake my head,
"So, why aren't you at the club?"  He downs the beer and opens the second.  Well the second since I've been here,
"It was whack, I left."  He picks up the remote and turns on the TV,
"Come here."  I slide over, ignoring how demanding he was but he was drinking so I let it go,
"What?"  He pulls me closer and kisses me on the lips before I turn my head, all I can taste is the beer.  I go over to the refrigerator and grab a bottled water and sit back down this time putting more distance between the two of us.  I wonder where the hell Chris and Marnie were and if they even knew Nick was back at the hotel.
