Chapter 26

It's Friday morning and it's the first time I'm able to go out during the day with Eric to sight see.  We did everything from the Hollywood sign and visting those little stars on the sidewalk to going back to his old neighborhood and all the local spots,
"So, what do you want to do next?"  I look over at him and shrug,
"I don't know, let's-"  The ringing of my cell phone interrupts me, actually it saves me because I have no clue what I want to do,
"Hello?"  I look out the window after smiling at Eric who turned down the music,
"Hey, what are you doing?"  Nick, what in the world could he want,
"Sightseeing with Eric, what are you doing?"  I look over at Eric and mouth Nick's name and wonder if my crush on Nick is obvious to him as he nods his head smiling,
"Nothing, Tori and I are going out to lunch. You guys want to come?"  I smile at the idea of seeing him but my stomach drops at the thought of a conversation with Tori,
"Um hold on."  I place my hand over the phone and look over at Eric,
"Nick invited us to lunch with him and Tori, wanna go?"  He shrugs,
"It's fine with me if you want."  Great, put the decision on me, just like a man I think as I roll my eyes at him and watch him laugh,
"Sure, where do you want to meet?"  I shake my head and zone out as Nick tries to give me directions, finally he gave up,
"Forget it, put Eric on the phone."

We end up at a waterside seafood place down by some pier that's supposedly famous and I should know about, did I forget to tell someone I don't eat seafood?  The conversation is dominated by sports and tour stories, Tori seems to not enjoy the topics, but there is no way I'm talking about how to mix the perfect shade of red,
"So Quinn how long have you and Eric been dating?"  I smile at Eric,
"We're not dating, we're just friends."  Tori shook her head,
"You're a pretty girl, what's wrong?  Nick, you should hook her up with one of your friends."  Nick smiles and shakes his head,
"No."  I look over at him with amusement,
"Why not?  Come on Nick, they're your friends so they MUST be good guys right?"  He rolls his eyes and smiles,
"No."  Tori smiled and turns to him and places her hand on his arm,
"Come on Nick, why not?"  He sighs and places his fork down,
"I said no ok."  I watch him sit back in his chair and wonder what got into him,
"Fine Nick, whatever."  He quickly tries to smooth things over with Tori after his outburst,
"Sweetie, I'm sorry."  Her arms crossed she looks like a little girl,
"You don't have to bite my head off."  He nods and looks down before grabbing her hand,
"I know baby, I'm sorry ok?"  Eric and I glance at each other out of discomfort as she continues to be upset and he reacted by continuing to apologize to the point of kissing her ass.  I calculate he just lost about fiteen points on the respect meter in my opinion as we go back to eating lunch.

We stop to play a few games on the pier and Eric won a huge white teddy bear for me, Nick wasn't so lucky, coordination is a must and he definitely doesn't have it, amazing considering he sings and dances at the same time, well sometimes it more moving not so much dancing.   My eyes are set on the sun over the horizon when I hear Tori,
"Aww, the poor little puppy."  I look over and see her knealing towards a disgustingly sick dog,
"He's so emaciated."  My eyes widen and I can't help but laugh,
"Emaciated?"  She looks up at me,
"Yeah, it means to be unnaturally thin."  I smiled and nod,
"Oh."  I didn't want to tell her I simply didn't know she knew what the word meant,
"I learn one new word a day.  I read about it in a book on creating a better you."  She gave her attention back to the dog and I roll my eyes, a sarcastic look on my face, I make eye contact with Nick and suddenly feel awful for picking on his girlfriend.  I look back out at the beach but laughter takes over again as I shake my head, he probably didn't know what it meant.
