| Chapter 47 I cant believe her; she is still with this asshole. After the way he has treated her for years shes just going to continue to take it. Why on Earth would she feel the need to stay with this poor excuse for a man? There are millions of guys who would bow down at her feet and do anything to be with her. I still remember all the things she told me he has done to her. My eyes dropped and I cant help but notice how he touches her. It only brings back the comments he said about her weight; I mean give me a break. Who the fuck could ever say anything about her weight? Shes thin as a rail; shes a damn supermodel for crying out loud. Its impossible for her to be overweight. Steven, this is Nick and his date Colleen. This is Steven, my- Steven interrupted her, Im her manager. I could see it; see the hurt in her eyes even though no one else probably thought anything of it. After knowing how he has treated her and how much she loves him I can see it plain as day. She glanced at me quickly before looking down momentarily before lifting her head and flashing a bright smile, she deserved an award or at least a part in someones upcoming movie. She nodded her head, The best in the business. He didnt even recognize her glowing compliment, he just bellowed at her, Twenty minutes. She nodded and stood tall as he walked off. There was silence; Colleen because she was slightly uncomfortable from the entire atmosphere and I was uncomfortable because I wanted to say something to Brehan, wanted to make her feel better. She smiled at me, How long are you both going to be in town? She was remarkable with her ability to hide whatever it was she was feeling; I had to give it to her. I cant claim to know every feeling running through her body but I know, I just know she was going to introduce him as her boyfriend and he shot her opportunity to acknowledge their relationship right out of the sky. He has always been that way since they started dating; he never wanted anyone to know they were together. I dont know how long theyve been together, that was something she never rattled off during her drunken monologue when we were on the phone. However, I do know their relationship was a secret to everyone except his personal friends. And obviously the girls he brought into their bedroom that day. I still cant get over that. Yes, Ive done that in the past but Ive never done it with someone I was in a relationship with. That was just asking for trouble, not because I couldnt handle it, it was always the girl. Your girlfriend might say she could handle it but she cant; shell flip out and think youre cheating all the time or that youre at least thinking about it. I didn't have to experience it personally to know that would be a clock whos hands you wished you could turn back. I stood and watched Brehan kiss and hug some girl that came up to her and tried to imagine her with another woman; I just couldnt. She wasnt gay and for him to make her do something she didnt want to do made me angry. Were not talking about making someone workout when they didnt want to or go to an appointment. Were talking about sex with people she didnt want to have sex with. I wanted to talk to her, make sure she was ok because I hadnt talked to her since that night but when I saw the look she was giving a very unaware Colleen my original thoughts before Steven came over entered into my mind. Bitch. Thats exactly what I was thinking. Why did she have to be such a bitch, especially to Colleen? It has been so long since the last time she acted mean-spirited that I almost forgot how much of a bitch she could be. I cant believe I almost forgot, it was after all, my first impression of her; that she was a queen bee, no doubt in my mind, stuck up, evil bitch. And that was just after the first day. Dont tell me these last few weeks of talking on the phone and confiding in one another was fake. And if it was, what did she hope to get out of it? I had no more clout in the industry than she did. Im sure she could get a table at a fancy restaurant quicker than I could. Maybe I could help her in the music businesswait; did she want to be a singer? Ive had enough of up and coming singers to last me a lifetime and even a couple of reincarnations. I saw a hand moving in front of my face and shook my head, What? I looked back and forth between Colleen and Brehan as Brehan rolled her eyes and sighed. She must have been the one who wanted my attention and it must be treacherous to not give her all the attention she so desired, I asked how long were you both going to be in the city. Colleen answered, just waiting on you. Why does she have to be such a, I dont know what? One minute shes a tyrant and then for a moment she shows a vulnerable side that lets me know shes a human being. Im here until tomorrow afternoon. I smiled at Colleen who seemed relieved that I knew she was still there. Her plane left the following day at eight nineteen in the morning, I was going to take her to the airport, head back to my hotel for a few hours then head back to the airport and board a plane to fly to Detroit with Howie and Kevin. I rubbed my hand up and down her arm, maybe more for me than for her when Brehan stepped in closer to me, Can I talk to you for a moment? I nodded as I grabbed a beer of the tray a waiter was carrying as he walked by, Yeah. Her lips disappeared into a thin line; something I wouldnt have noticed if it werent for her lips. She had those Angelina Jolie lips; they were full and pouty even when she wasn't pouting. She glanced over at Colleen and an offended gaze developed on her face, I need to speak to you Nick. She said as she looked back over at me. I wasnt in the mood for bratty behavior, Whatever you have to say, you can say it. Colleen gripped my arm tighter, I can go over- I shook my head and took a hold of her hand, No, youre fine. Brehan wasnt having that at all and it only sent her up in arms even more, Damn Nick. Kevin stepped over and placed his hand on my back, Colleen, I wanted to introduce you to someone, their brother goes to Boston College too. He glanced at me as he took her hand from mine and I knew that it was my fault she was feeling uncomfortable. She was my guest and it was my job to make sure she would have a wonderful time. In fact, I promised she would have a great time and here I was allowing her to fall into the death trap known as Brehan. I steered my eyes back to Brehan hoping she would see the disapproval but she didnt seem to care that I was not pleased with her behavior, What do you want to talk about? She shook her head, Not here. With that, she turned and began to walk away. I guess Im supposed to follow behind her. I was just supposed to magically know this I thought as I struggled to keep up with her through the deep crowd of people. Why does it take so much of an effort with girls. And not just girls you date, all of them. My mother, my sisters, my friends' girls, my female friends. Wait, do I have real female friends? Well, that;s for another moment. The fact of the matter is they are all a handful and it takes a hell of a lot more time and energy than I think it should have to. They always talk about men not gettting it but I think there is something to be said of all men in the universe not understanding women, it can't be all of us. They have to have something to do with it. It doesn't matter because we can't live without them. Even a gay man's best friend is a girl. They have us by the balls and there's nothing we can do about it. Chapter 48 Stranger Than Fiction Stories Feedback |
