Chapter 29

Tomorrow we'll be on TRL and the Early Show so we're doing wardrobe in one of the rooms on the floor we took over in the hotel, somewhere in the middle of New York City.  I always complain about it being too early but I'm the one with the most energy when we're on the air.  I'm laughing because Howie has on a pair of jeans, they are nice jeans, I would even say dressy in my opinion.  Howie will not go on TV with those jeans, why they bother I don't know, just give him a pair of leather pants or some classic trousers as he calls them, and let's move on to the next victim.  Brian was trying on some awful sweater that looks like it's straight out of the AJ McLean Helter Skelter collection.  I already have my outfit for TRL ready, gold star for me.  Man, I really shouldn't have watched Boomerang last night on HBO because I keep quoting the movie, my favorite line was the 'icy hot' comment when they were working out.  One day, I'm going to get that in a conversation.  I was at some little vintage store in Greenwich Village and saw a T-shirt that I had to have it, it had Mr. Clean on it.  Kevin groaned when he saw it and I smiled, that was a positive reaction in my eyes.  AJ and Howie thought I should wear the AC/DC shirt I also bought, but I didn't want to come off like I was proving I knew New Kids on the Block wasn't the first group to exist.  I shook off my thoughts as my cell phone rang.  Hmm, private number,
"Hello?"  Please don't regret answering the phone, please let it be someone I know,
"Hi, what's your parent's mailing address?"  Never had he encountered a fan that was so bold as to just ask him something like this,
"I don't give out that information.  Um, who is this?"  Kevin and AJ were looking at me as I frowned and leaned forward on the couch.  This was just way out of hand, I don't mind the occassional giggling girl but to ask for personal information like that, and to think that I would give it?
"This is Brehan dumbass and if you don't give it to me how else am I going to send Angel what I got her?"  Brehan, I totally didn't recognize her voice, but then again I've never heard her on the phone before.  That night, or shall I say morning, before I left we exchanged numbers.  I still can't get over how cool she was, after my little slip up of telling her I didn't like her it was smooth sailing for the rest of the night.  I grabbed all her portfolios and pictures spread and looked over them, she had them all since the vey first modeling picture she took when she was eight.
"Oh hi Brehan, what's up?  What did you get my sister?"  I shouldn't have said her name, now I have AJ and Kevin doing some serious ease-dropping,
"You said she was a Heidi Klum fan.  She's over here doing the show I'm doing so I had her sign a picture for your sis."  Wow, she remembered my sister's favorite model?  That seemed so unlike her.  Ok, no more of that, I had said everything that had happened before was in the past and I meant it,
"I forgot you're in Paris right now."
"Yep, I'll be back in a couple of days.  What are you doing?  What's with all the noise, having a party?"  I smiled, we talked about her assumptions of me being some hard partying rockstar,
"No, wardrobe fitting for appearances tomorrow."  She giggled,
"Feeling like Ken huh?"  I laughed,
"Yes I am.  I wouldn't laugh Barbie."  AJ threw a strange look at me and I stood up and walked out into the hall.  The last thing I need is him hanging onto every word I say,
"Nick, don't go too far you still need your Early show outfit."  one of the stylists called out to me as I closed the door,
"So, are you going to get to enjoy Paris at all?"  She sighed,
"Oh you know how it's goes.  In and out, but I am about to go out in a few minutes."
"What time is it there?"  She giggled,
"Shouldn't you know things like this?  I'm sure you've been to Europe enough to know the time difference by heart. It's eleven pm."
"Next time you can leave out the smartass comments and just tell me."  She made a little noise,
"Whatever kid.  Well, look I have to go so are you going to give me the address or do you not trust me?"  I could give her the address, it's not like she is going to put up a tent outside my house,
"I don't trust you, I'd rather you give it to me and I'll give it to her."
"Are you serious?"  She sounds mad, I hope she knows I'm kidding,
"I'm kidding, really.  You have a pen and paper ready?"  She sighed,
"Look, if you don't feel comfortable giving it to me then don't."  Why didn't I just give her the damn address?
"Brehan, it's no big deal.  I don't feel uncomfortable."  She was quiet for a while and I was nervous waiting on her to say something,
"Hey, you still there?"
"Yeah, sorry.  Had to take care of something.  Hey, I have to go, I'll-"
"Do you want the address?"  Yes, she is pissed, it's a feeling I have, I know when girls are pissed at me, it happens so often but I just act like I'm clueless and they eventually get over it,
"No, I'll get it later, I need to go, bye."  Before I could say anything she had already hung up.  I walked back into the room and was immediately interrogated by AJ,
"So, what did the vamp want?"  I frowned at him,
"The what?"  He laughed,
"A vamp is a chick that uses being a chick to get what she wants, basically."  I rolled my eyes and flopped on the couch,
"She's fine."  Howie smiled,
"So, when did you two become friends?"  I shook my head, he didn't say friend like the other words in his sentence, he put a little emphasis on the word,
"Nothing is going on ok?"  AJ smiled at me as if he knew something I didn't know,
"When did she get your number?"  I hated when they tried to play detective, especially AJ, he was like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.  He only got information when it was handed to him on a silver platter with a flashing arrow that says "this is a clue" but you couldn't tell him he wasn't a master at finding out things,
"I gave it to her when we were at her pla-"  Ah hell, didn't mean to say that.  They didn't know that and I was in any particular hurry for them to know it either.  AJ's eyes were wide like saucers,
"What?  You did her and didn't tell us?  And when was this?"  It was just like him to jump to that conclusion,
"I didn't DO her and there's nothing to tell.  After the MTV afterparty she and I went to her place and hung out.  It was all innocent."  AJ shook his head,
"Innocent my ass.  So, that's why you wanted to stay?  I figured it was for that girl that was attached to you at the hip."  I glanced over at Howie, maybe I could reason with him,
"It just happened, she just asked me to hang out and we ended up at her place,  that's it."  Kevin walked over and sat down next to him,
"I believe it.  Only you would go back to a supermodels house and do nothing."  He looked over at AJ,
"But if she worked at Dairy Queen, he'd be all over her."  I'm glad they all got a good laugh out of that, including some of our "people".  I just shook my head,
"Will you get over wanting me to be with someone in the industry please?  If it happens it happens, if not then oh well." He nodded his head but of course they went on for the rest of the session making periodic jokes.
