Chapter 120

I woke up and smiled because I was waking up alone.  After the sex, Shannon called her friends and they came to pick her up.  I didnt walk her downstairs, I didnt give her my number and I didnt promise to meet up some other time.  It was a very non stressful ending to some casual screwing.  I just cant get over how fun and stress free my life is right now.  I get to act like a celebrity and I dont have to deal with all the pains of it.  No paparazzi, no gossip pages, no lawsuits just good clean (well, not really) fun for a twenty-four year old kid.
Our day was a calm one.  This wasnt a band concert that we needed to promote.  VH1 and Rolling Stone had to worry about publicity issues.  They had their own network and magazines, its not like they didnt have a place to promote.  And nothing fascinated the fake ass legitimate news people like rock stars.  They fall over themselves even though they seem to look down on us celebrities, especially the ones who dare to have an opinion about the world we live in.  ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, Fox News, and CNN they all wanted a piece of someone who performed on stage. So no doing morning radio shows on pop radio stations.
The only responsibility we had for the day was one last run through that should be even quicker and less painful than the first one.  Our rehearsal was scheduled for two thirty then we didnt have to be back until the red carpet time.  It was only ten thirty so I dont know what Im going to do until two oclock, which is when we were scheduled to leave for the venue.  I wasnt really looking forward to this thing.  I wouldnt mind seeing a few people that I was friendly with but I couldnt care less if we performed or not and I didnt care about the other celebrities.  Im sure there were a few that I would be a little awed by but Im willing to bet money I could count them on one hand and have a few fingers left over like Mariah Carey.  She said she could count the men on one hand and not use all her fingers when it came to the men she had slept with.
Theres no use in trying to defend your name (and virtue) when you dress like you live in the Red Light District.  Either put on some clothes or accept the slut label.  You cant have it both ways in this world, fair or not.  But I think, if youre a good girl who isnt loose, why would you want to look like a whore anyway?  Women, Ill never understand them and why they do the things they do.  Im convinced, they are the ones that make life so much more difficult than it has to be.

I was with two of the male dancers, Jermaine and Rueben, and Carl eating lunch at the ESPN Zone watching a preview show of the upcoming football season.
Its all about the Eagles this year man.  As much as I hate to say it.  I loved the Bucs and that meant I automatically hated the Philadelphia Eagles but I had to give credit where credit was due.  Jermaine laughed,
All these years of pain and its finally my time baby.  We got T.O. and its Super Bowl bound baby.  Jermaine was from Philadelphia and it showed.  Not necessarily from Philly but from somewhere that requires a lot of attitude.  He was hip, good with the ladies and never one to shrink into a crowd.  He loved attention and couldnt get enough of it.  My phone rang and I pulled it out of my pocket,
Hello?  I could barely hear the sound from the other end,
Wait, I cant hear you.  Let me go somewhere so I can hear you.  Hold on.  I motioned to Carl that I was leaving and that he was to stay put.  I just dont think any woman that was eating at the ESPN Zone was going to be concerned with me.
Ok, hello?  I said as I stood just outside the door.
Hello?  Nick?  I didnt catch the voice and I was ready to end this.  I was tired of the unwelcome phone calls from girls; it was just too outrageous,
Yeah, who is this?
Its Jill.  Remember me from the gala?  The bachelor auction?  I had, for the time, forgotten all about that.  I had even convinced myself at one point that I would never hear from her.
Yes, I remember you.  How have you been?  It hadnt been that long but I kind of forgotten what she looked like.  I remembered she was very hot and had red hair, but I couldnt remember anything specific.
Ive been great; working but thats all the time right?  I cant believe she was calling.  It was a charity event.  It was about giving money to a good cause not about actually going on a date.
Yeah, I hear you on that.  There was a moment of silence before she continued,
So the reason I called.  Im going to be in Vegas over the weekend and Im calling in my winning bid.  Unreal. At one point women made me so nervous I didnt know how to react to them but now they were everywhere and they wanted me more than I wanted them.
Sure, its the rules right?  When are you going to be here?
I arrive tomorrow afternoon.  So now I have twenty four hours to figure out what to do with yet another sophisticated woman.  I didnt know where any really fancy restaurants were in this citywhere the great shows were.  She spent thousands of dollars on me.  I couldnt take her anywhere I had already been.  She deserved more than that on the date.
Thats great.  So what are your plans?
I love Vegas.  I need a vacation and its the perfect time to have that date.  Dont you think?  He smiled,
Sure,  Ill see you then.  We said theyre goodbyes and I immediately made a phone call.
Hello?
Hi, its Nick.  Are you busy?  I wasnt even thinking when I dialed her number,
No but even if I were Id still take your call.  She really knew how to make a man feel good.
Look, I want to go to a nice restaurant here in Vegas.  Do you know of any that are really good?  She had the most class of anyone I know.  If she didnt have any ideas I am lost.
I just happen to have a favorite restaurant.  Its called Marrakech; its Moroccan.  She laughed, I love my culture.  At that instant I recalled that Sarah was half Moroccan.
So this place must be very authentic for you to recommend it.
Well you know nothing is better than the real thing but its great.  It has the full effect.  I dare you to not want to go to Morocco after you go there.  It was settled.  Im going to take Jill to this place.  I want to impress her at least a little.
How are things going in Vegas?
Pretty well.  The concert taping is tonight.  I saw Brehan last night at a party.  Although our time together was brief.
I havent heard from her since the gala.  I think Ill call her later.
How did everything go with the gala?  Did you get everything finished?  Considering she didnt come to Vegas with me when I offered I hope she got a lot of work done.
Everything went well.  I just have a few more loose ends to time up and the gala is history.  I really admire her.  Someone so young with so much responsibility,
You know you're amazing.  You do so much and youre barely out of high school.  She laughed,
Dont make me that young.  I graduated high school when I was sixteen.  And I grew up around fundraisers.  Carl came out and I remembered for the first time since I was outside that I was actually outside.  He was probably getting a little antsy.  Sarah and I talked for a couple of more minutes before I told her Id call her the next day.
