| Chapter 92 They made their way into the studio as they prepared to do the evening radio show in New York. Tomorrow was album release day and they were all a little off. They seemed to handle it differently though. Kevin and Brian were definitely on edge and a little stressed, Howie became even more diplomatic than usual and AJ couldn't keep his mouth shut. Nick wanted people to like the music and he wanted to be successful but on the other hand sometimes he just didn't give a damn. They would always have to deal with people who didn't like them or what they did for no reason, it was part of life. He followed behind them, all carrying their super cool Starbuck's cups. What was wrong with coffee from 7-11? Or even the hotel, they had to make a stop, out of the way, just to get some stupid coffee. They all shook hands with Dave, the night time DJ, and made their way to their seats. This guy did not like them and always talked shit about them, why DJs thought most artists didn't know they were fake was beyond him. They were buddies and pals when they were in their faces but once they were gone they didn't hesitate to talk bad about them. The fact was they were just as good at being fake as the DJs, they just didn't prove it on the radio, they kept it to themselves. The song ended and they listened to him introduce the group, Nick didn't really hear it until he heard his name, "-Nick, Kevin and Howie...the Backstreet Boys. How are you guys?" They all spoke at once saying how well they were doing. He looked around the studio, looking at the different posters and autographs, "So, we have a lot of people on the phone lines waiting to ask you guys some questions. I don't know what they want to know so we'll let the fans interview you." Thank God, Nick thought as he smiled and looked interested, "I'm going to ask the number one question and get it out of the way. If this is your question, you have time to think of another. Who is single?" It was getting harder and harder to laugh at that question and pretend like it didn't bother them. Kevin spoke first, "Well of course Brian and I are married." AJ, never shy about talking about his romantic relationships piped in, "I have a girlfriend, hey baby, she's hanging out with Brian and Kevin's wives." Howie leaned into his microphone, "I'm presently single." Nick closed his eyes to hide the fact that they were rolling uncontrollably in his head. If you believed that, then Howie has never had a girlfriend in ten years. Nick nodded, "I'm single." Dave turned his attention on Nick, "Single and looking?" Nick shrugged and spoke with all seriousness, "Looking for fun." Dave laughed and Nick looked over to see his little comment hadn't went over well with Kevin, but whatever, he was in a foul mood. He wasn't sure why he was in a bad mood but he just was and he knew to simply remain as quiet as he possibly could. He leaned back in his chair and waited for the questions to begin, "Ok, not only will we be talking to you guys but Monday nights are kind of like advice night around here. It's right after the weekend and people call to figure out where they went wrong on their dates, why he won't call, sex all that good stuff." The producer put through the first call, "Hey Don, what's up man?" "You guys were talking about Viagara." Earlier in the broadcast the issue of Viagara and how it worked came up, "It doesnt just work because you take it, you have to get aroused and be in the mood. It doesn't just make you erect, its just helps." Dave smiled as he looked around the room at the guys, wondering how much he could get out of them, "Ok, so you took it and how old are you? You sound young." "Yeah, I'm twenty-two." AJ spoke up, "Why are you taking Viagara if you're twenty-two?" The guys made faces at each other laughing, "I didn't know much about Viagara and I thought it would help with um, ya know...stamina." Nick laughed as he sprayed water everywhere, "So, you're a two pump chump." The room erupted with laughter and even Brian and Kevin, who were caught off guard by the comment, had to laugh. "Well, not like that but I was really nervous. She was an older woman and she was talking a lot...really confident-" DJ Dave interrupted, "So, she was telling you what she was going to do and you were scared." "Basically, yeah. So I took it before I got to her place and it didn't last long." AJ laughed, "You mean YOU didn't last long." There was laughter and smiling all around, "It was alright, I mean she called back for another date, we saw each other a few times after." DJ Dave ended the call and the night went on mixed with calls about the guys and calls about sex and love. After the show they were standing around getting their things together when Nick noticed one of the interns, Rachel, approach him as he was digging around in his backpack, "So, what are you guys doing tonight?" He shrugged, "Nothing. What are you doing?" She smiled as she gathered the trash from off the table, "Just hanging out with a few friends...why don't you come with us?" Nick thought about it for a second and nodded his head, "Yeah, cool. Where are you guys going?" She shrugged, "Not sure yet...I'll stop by your hotel and pick you up." He gave her his room number and smiled, "Ok, I gotta go. I'll see you in a couple of hours?" She nodded, "Yeah, probably about one...I'll call you when I'm on my way." He walked out with Tim, letting him know his plans for later that night. Home Full Circle Chapter 93 |
