Chapter 2

January 26 - Charlotte, North Carolina

She arrived at the airport and smiled when she saw a placard with her name on it,
"Hi, I'm Shayna."  She removed her wallet from her purse and showed the older gentleman her ID.  He looked at it and then back up at her,
"Thank you ma'am.  Let me take that."  He took her bag and led her towards the car.  Nick couldn't meet her at the airport, they had a concert that night and he was busy, so he made sure to send a driver to pick her up and safely deliver her to the venue.  It had only been a week since she last saw him.  She flew into Fort Lauderdale on his birthday to be with him before returning back home to finish her last week of work.  When he suggested she quit her job and go on the road with him it wasn't the easiest decision for her.  To quit her job and allow him to take care of her was scary, she had supported herself completely since the age of eighteen when she went off to college.  Nick having all the money was scary, she felt as if it was the same as having all the power.  When he paid for her new car butterflies danced in her stomach and her palms were drenched from sweat, it made her nervous.  She smiled at the driver as he opened the door and she sat in the back of the car anxiously awaiting to see Nick.  She sat in the backseat he put her bags in the trunk, she only had two and a carry-on, she decided it would be easier to buy clothes as they went along. There was a mall in every city and she could buy and store her new purchases in their home, the tourbus.  She had never spent more than two weeks on tour with him and by the end of those two weeks she was stir crazy and couldn't wait to get home and back to a normal life and routine.  The first day was going to be rough, she was flying in from Florida, going straight to the venue, watching a concert and afterwards boarding a bus headed to Atlanta for a concert the very next night.  How Nick and the others did it she would never know, at least she could relax in every city, they had a job to do and had to be "on" all the time.

She arrived at the venue and was thrilled they were able to get through with no problems.  She stood by Nick's bus as the driver went in search of Nick's bus driver so they could put her things on board.  She looked around and saw that there were no fans around but it was early, however, the more she studied her surroundings the more she realized they wouldn't be able to see anything anyway.  No one knew she and Nick were back together and she had to smile at the commotion it was sure to stir, especially after Nick's past year as an eligible bachelor.  It was surely going to hit the fan when they found out she was on the entire tour with him.  She knew she was ruining alot of girls' chances, girls who thought they were going to get their night, week, maybe even more with Nick.  This tour was going to be a major disappointment for alot of girls.  She smiled brighter as Dave returned with the driver,
"Hi Shayna.  Good to see you.  Nick told me you would be on the whole tour."  She smiled,  Nick has been so excited at the thought of her with him every day.  He called her every night telling her to mark another day off the calendar,
"We're not going to be too much for you are we?"  He shook his head,
"No way, I finally have someone pretty on the bus."  She laughed as she patted him on the back,
"Thanks, but you better not let Nick hear you say that.  His feelings would be hurt." They laughed and she hugged him before they walked into the venue,
"I just saw Tim, I told him you were here, he should be coming this way."  Just as he finished his sentence Nick's security appeared at the door,
"Hi Shayna."  She always liked Tim, he was a big teddy bear, like all bodyguards tended to be,
"Hi Tim.  Where is he?"  He laughed and she knew she sounded way too eager, she probably sounded like a fan,
"I'm sorry, I miss him.  How are you?" He shook his head,
"I'm fine, don't worry about me.  Come on."  He laughed as she skipped along side him, the more they walked the more antsy she became, after several minutes she finally stopped, placed her hands on her hips and pouted like a little girl,
"Where is he?"  He laughed,
"I'm sorry, I was just walking you around to see how long it would take before you asked."  She shook her head and swatted him on the arm,
"How can you do that to me?  You know I miss him.  I'm dying over here."  He nodded and they turned the corner.  He pointed,
"Last door on the right."  She took off and she could hear his laughter as she left him behind.  She walked through the door and opened it, all eyes were on her as she scanned the room.  Finally, she saw him in the corner and his eyes lit up as he made his way over to her,
"Shay."  He wrapped his arms around her waist and picked her up off the ground.  He kissed her lightly on the lips and smiled as they stood besside each other, their arms around each other's waists,
"Hi guys."  she giggled as she waved around the room.  Kevin stood up and walked over to her and pulled her into a hug,
"Hey Shayna, good to have you around again."  She smiled,
"Good to be around again."  When she went out to see Nick on his birthday that was when the guys found out she and Nick were back together again.  For whatever reason he didn't even tell them, he was just that way about people knowing his business.  He just got around to it when he got around to it.  He was never in a hurry for people to know things.  If they did, so be it but it was rare when he felt the need to announce things.  She and Howie hugged briefly and she smiled at AJ and Brian.  Nick flopped on a couch and pulled Shayna down beside him,
"How was your flight?"  It kind of caught her offguard.  It wasn't that Nick wasn't a caring person, but sometimes he wasn't the most thoughtful.  Sometimes other people's feelings and needs didn't enter his mind.  But when you've had people telling you how wonderful you were and concentrating on you and your wants and needs since you were a child it's not the easiest thing to be the considerate one in a relationship.
"The flight was fine and so was the trip over here.  My things are already on the bus."  He nodded,
"Good."  Suddenly, he stood up and pulled her to her feet leading her out of the room.  Once they were out in the hallway she asked,
"Where are we going?"  He held her hand as he tried to open doors and finally found and unlocked room,
"I missed you."  She hugged his neck,
"I missed you too."  He took off her baseball cap, bent his head down and kissed her and she sighed as she felt his tongue in her mouth.  His hands were underneath her shirt cupping her breasts and she moaned as she ran her hands through his hair, she could feel him grow against her and she knew if they didn't stop now they weren't going to,
"Whoa, ok, we have to stop."  He pulled back and looked in her eyes,
"No way, you shouldn't have been rubbing my thigh like that in there."  Rubbing his thigh?  She didn't even realize she had been doing that.  He grabbed her face in his hands and pulled her into another kiss and she knew what was about to happen.
