| We visited this island in November 2002 and very much enjoyed our holiday. The botanical gardens in Scarborough are delightful and although not large are well worth a visit just to find a quiet shady corner and look at the tropical plants and look out to sea across the town. We travelled around the island and stopped at Barbados Bay on the south coast. Every morning, near the hotel, local fishermen set nets which they left until the next morning. On the morning the 'photo below was taken frigate birds were swooping over the sea as there was a very good catch. Much went to waste. We enjoyed getting away from hotel, for short walks, and here Jenny drinks a bottle of water at a lottery office in Black Rock. As in Mauritius there are many uncontrolled unwanted dogs, some in poor condition, who seek human company. They benefit from shade and any insect repellents we wear. A picture of Jenny sunbathing beside a road running to beach..... a bit of a traffic hazard! A fine sunset. |
