| The Secret |
It was Tuesday morning, and there was allot of fuss on the city streets of Paris that day. People were running around like headless chickens trying to get to work or to get to the shops before everyone else. It was now 3 o�clock in the afternoon and not as many people were on the street, but a man was sitting there drinking a cup of coffee out side a caf�. He looked so kinds, blond hair, fair skin, and normal clothes. At the police station Sargent Helen Move and Inspector Augustus Rosso were talking about the fuss that morning on the street. They had just started to talk when the phone rang. It was a female voice on the phone. She asked to see an inspector. She said �Inspector there has been an explosion in the Caf� de la salderver! �We�ll be right there.� said the inspector, sounding very shocked. When they arrived at the caf� they met a man just walking away from the smashed window, it was the man who was sitting out side the caf� Sargent Move pulled out a gun out and shouted �Hold it right there!� The man replayed � WOW wait don�t shoot I�m innocent I�m an American� �put that gun away Sargent Move.� Sorry for this hold-up but�� �Am I under-arrest?� the man interrupted innocently �Ah no I would just like to ask you some questions. To the caf� MARCH!� When they arrived, the inspector shouted �What a mess. This bombing is an out-rage is it not?� Then they both heard Helen saying, � Stop that�stop holding your breath at once!� they both turned round and saw Move kneeling down at a table. They both saw a young lady lying at the table. �Has it ever uncured to you that she might be died Move?� � Yes it has.� Rosso seen a young lady out the corner of his eye lying in a chair. �Move, examine the girl and take down what she remembers about this Bombing, if you can. And now to business�your name please?� � George Piper.� �And what brings you to Paris Mister Piper?� �Travel I�m touring Europe� �What did you see sir�? � I saw a person entering the caf� dressed like a clown. He was carrying an accordion.� �An accordion? Ok, You may leave now if you remember anything please contact me, my Card.� �He grabbed the mans brief-case just ran out of the door and ran down the ally across the street I also remember he had a ring with a square top on his left index finger.� That�s all I can remember.� �Ok you may leave now Piper.� �I�ll go and try track down the killer to help.� When he went out side he went to the aly across the street and saw that the clown had left a paper on the ground beside an open manhole. George went down and when he was down he found the clowns red noise and a piece of cloth, from chequered trousers on a line of barbed wire. There was a label inside, It was a costume shop�s address. George went to that address and found out that the killer�s name was Simon. After he had found the name he went to the police station with this news. He saw a notice up in the notice board � a reward for an escaped prisoner and there was a picture of a person below it. All the police they said is� we�ll talk to Rosso about this�, and they did. Rosso was shocked this man had escaped from jail two months ago and the police had never caught him since. They went to George�s flat and had another chat to him. �So George where did these pieces of material lead you to?� �They lead to the out skirts of Paris sergeant!� So Rosso and Move followed George to the manhole. They all climbed down one at a time and followed the path until they came to the barbed wire, where George found the material. They looked around for another way around the fence, eventually they found a path, and there was a ladder that lead to the lower level. So they followed that path instead. Eventually they came to another ladder, which led up into a back lane of a block of houses. They entered the back garden of the house, which the manhole was nearest to. They went to the door and asked the man �do you knew a person called Simon around?� he said, �yes I am Simon. Why?� � We would like to ask you some questions please.� � Sure come on in.� he replied When they entered they saw a pair of chequered trousers hanging over the chair. The inspector asked, � Can we see the trousers please?� he handed them over. There was a hole in the back of the right leg. Then a woman came down the stair with a cut on the back of her right leg. She seemed to get a fright when she saw the men standing talking. �A-are these y-your friends darling?� she asked politely, � No, they said they are inspectors from Paris.� Simon replied �Madam could I ask where you got that cut on you leg?� asked George, with confidence �eh? I g-got it�at work� �Yeah right� said George. I think you should come down to the station with us. All five of them went to the police station for questioning. The next day they went to court and the woman was found guilty so was sentenced for life in jail as well as her husband because he had escaped from jail two months before and he bought his wife the outfit and kept it a secret from everyone else. George meanwhile got a big reward of �20,000 because he led the police to the escaped prisoner and the killer! |
