Gordon's Global Journeys

Welcome to Gordon's Global Journeys. This site is designed to acquaint you with possible study tour and private tour options. "Gordon" Knutson will direct and teach on most of these tours. Gordon has a Ph.D. in history and an M.A. in political science and has been a professor at Heidelberg College in Ohio for 20 years and Director of the Cultural History Tours at Eastern Michigan University for 14 years. He retired from the office in 2004 but is still doing tours for Eastern Michigan University and for private groups.

The following travel-study tours sponsored by Eastern Michigan University are designed for university or college students. On these tours Gordon will be the director and teach the history and/or political science courses.

Spring/Summer 2007

China Tibet Cultural History Tour
May 14 to June 23, 2007

The China-Tibet Cultural History Tour (CTCHT) is a 41 day tour that visits Shanghai, Nanjing, Luoyang, Xian, and Beijing China and Lhasa, Tibet. It is a completely unique approach to university study abroad. It combines a tour of major cultural and historical sites in China and Tibet with intense academic study of the culture and history being experienced. EMU credit available in History, Political Science, Religion and Art.

China Cultural History Tour

Winter Break Tour 2007

History and Art in Prague and Munich
February 24 -March 4, 2007

Earn 3 hours credit in History or Art while touring these wonderful, scenic cities. We'll visit the major artistic sites and museums of these cities such as the Old City and Sternberg Palace gallery in Prague and the Alte and Neue Pinakotheks in Munich. Historical sites include the Prague Castle, Vaclavske Namesti, sites of Hitler's Munich Beer Hall Putsch, and the Dachau concentration camp. Both art and history students will attend most of the program sites and museums.
