From the Desk of Mr. Gordon

Meet the Teacher

Please allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Mr. Gordon, an eleventh and twelfth grade Social Studies Teacher.  Since this is only my second year with Carbondale Area School District, let me provide some background information.

I graduated from Susquehanna University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History.  Upon graduating from college, I moved from the Scranton area to Baltimore, Maryland where I spent several years working with a political organization advocating environmental reform to protect the Chesapeake Bay.

When it came time for my wife and I to raise a family, even though my wife is from Baltimore, we decided to move back to where I grew up - right here in Northeastern Pennsylvania.  We felt Pennsylvania was the better place for our children to grow up.

In 2002, after working many years in business and sales, I decided it was time to go back to college to finish my Master's Degree in Secondary Education, which I completed in May 2005.  While working towards my Master's degree, I earned Pennsylvania state certification in social studies in December 2003.

I'm very pleased to be teaching in the Carbondale Area School District.  I look forward to teaching our children to appreciate history as much as I do!

If there are any questions you might have, don't hesitate to ask.  My e-mail address is located on the web site's homepage.
