PRO-LIFE RESOLUTION ON STEM CELLS

WHEREAS, all human beings are endowed by their Creator with the inalienable Right to Life; and

WHEREAS, human life begins when a human embryo comes into being, whether by fertilization or by cloning; and

WHEREAS, embryonic stem cells can only be obtained by destroying a human embryo; and

WHEREAS, non-embryonic stem cells (taken from cord blood or adults) are the only type of stem cells successfully used to treat patients and save lives; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the Republican Party in the above-named precinct that we urge lawmakers to ensure that no tax dollars are used for research involving embryonic stem cells but rather are used for research involving non-embryonic (cord blood and adult) stem cells.

The foregoing resolution was properly submitted in triplicate and was adopted by the Republican voters in the above-referenced precinct in convention on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.
