RESOLUTION ON THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION

WHEREAS, Texans voted to elect the State Board of Education (SBOE) in order to maintain accountability of public education to parents and taxpayers; and

WHEREAS, the Texas Legislature has largely shifted the control of public education from the SBOE to the Texas Education Agency and its bureaucracy;

BE IT RESOLVED that the Texas Legislature return to the SBOE the oversight of the TEA and the authority to appoint textbook review committees.

The foregoing resolution was properly submitted in triplicate and was adopted by the Republican voters in the above-referenced precinct in convention on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.
