RESOLUTION URGING PASSAGE OF A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO PROTECT THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE AND THE NATIONAL MOTTO

WHEREAS, Congress adopted the Pledge of Allegiance in its current form on June 15, 1954; and

WHEREAS, the current form of the pledge is as follows:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."; and

WHEREAS, the national motto of the United States is "In God We Trust" adopted by Congress on July 30, 1956; and

WHEREAS, through the passage of S. 2690 on October 8, 2002, (Public Law 107�293) Congress reaffirmed the reference to "one Nation under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance and reaffirmed that "God" remains in the national motto; and

WHEREAS, certain unelected federal judges have ruled that the Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional;

BE IT RESOLVED that the Republican Party in the above-named precinct urges the Congress to pass a constitutional amendment that will protect the rights of all Americans to recite and display the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Motto in their current forms.


The foregoing resolution was properly submitted in triplicate and was adopted by the Republican voters in the above-referenced precinct in convention on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.
