RESOLUTION URGING PASSAGE OF A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO PROTECT MARRIAGE

WHEREAS, marriage is a holy institution ordained by God from the beginning of time; and

WHEREAS, marriage has been understood by civilized states to be a covenant and contract between one man and one woman; and

WHEREAS, recent judicial and legislative actions in certain states has served to break down and re-define this important and historic foundation of society; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED that the Republican Party in the above-named precinct urges the Congress to pass a constitutional amendment to define marriage in the United States as existing only between one man and one woman.

The foregoing resolution was properly submitted in triplicate and was adopted by the Republican voters in the above-referenced precinct in convention on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.
