RESOLUTION ON EDUCATION

WHEREAS, the education of our children is a matter of highest concern, and providing for their education is almost as important as providing food, shelter, clothing and health care; and

WHEREAS, more parental involvement and less government intervention are the keys to improving the quality of education; and

WHEREAS, the state does not have the right to force children, against their parents' wishes, to attend a state-regulated educational institution; now therefore

BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Republican Party in the above-named precinct, firmly oppose all direct and indirect governmental regulation of private schools (including home schools); and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we strongly encourage parents, including those who choose not to educate their children at home, to assume primary responsibility for the education of their children.

The foregoing resolution was properly submitted in triplicate and was adopted by the Republican voters in the above-referenced precinct in convention on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.
