RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF MISSILE DEFENSE PROGRAM

WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, the United States was attacked using hijacked airliners; and

WHEREAS, the next such attack could be from ballistic missiles armed with nuclear, chemical or biological warheads; and

WHEREAS, we are aware that the Russian and Chinese governments have ballistic missiles aimed at the United States and are supplying our enemies in Iraq, Iran, Libya and North Korea with ballistic missile technology that could be used against us; and

WHEREAS, only direct military intervention will prevent these enemies from deploying these missiles; and

WHEREAS, freedom can only be preserved through a strong national defense, and peace can only be maintained through strength; now therefore

BE IT RESOLVED by the Republican Party in the above-named precinct that we affirm President Bush's resolve to withdraw from the 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we urge the United States Congress to be vigilant in maintaining our military strength sufficient to defend our nation's borders and it's strategic interests from foreign missile attacks by implementing and deploying a missile defense system for the United States.

The foregoing resolution was properly submitted in triplicate and was adopted by the Republican voters in the above-referenced precinct in convention on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.
