RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA

Whereas, The Boy Scouts of America has a long successful tradition of building character and leadership in boys and young men, and

Whereas, the Boy Scouts are required to adhere to Scout law that reflects positive characteristics that are universally praised by mainstream Americans and reads: �A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent," and

Whereas, The Boy Scouts of American require a belief in God and the requirement of responsibility that each individual has to others, their community and their country, and

Whereas, The Boy Scouts of America is coming under increasing attacks from political correctness, radical homosexuals, liberal extremists, the ACLU and other leftist organizations trying to force a secular world view on this traditional organization, and

Whereas, liberal organizations like the Leftist America Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has consistently attacked the Boy Scouts and tried to force a narrow, liberal agenda on an organizations that promoted traditional America values, and

Whereas, the ACLU and their leftist, liberal allies have sued the Boys Scouts to try and force them to accept girls, and

Whereas, the ACLU and their atheist, liberal allies have sued the Boys Scouts in an attempt to force them to remove reverence to God from the Scout oath, and

Whereas, the ACLU and their homosexual, liberal allies have sued the Boys Scouts to try and make the Scouts admit openly, homosexual scoutmasters, and

Whereas, the ACLU and their secular, liberal allies have threatened and intimidated organizations that provide funding to the Boy Scouts, resulting in the loss of millions of dollars in donations, and

Whereas, the ACLU and their intolerant, liberal allies are now attempting to have the Boy Scouts removed from public facilities where, in many cases they have been meeting for decades, and

Whereas, the Boy Scouts of America spends millions of dollars in legal fees to defend its program to build character and instill traditional American values; now, therefore, be it

Resolved that the Republican Party of Texas recognizes the incalculable positive contribution that the Boy Scouts of America has made to the United States and honor them for their commitment to character building in young men, and be it further

Resolved that the Republican Party condemns any attempt by any organization to undermine, fundamentally change, or force secular ideals on the Boy Scouts of America.


The foregoing resolution was properly submitted in triplicate and was adopted by the Republican voters in the above-referenced precinct in convention on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.
