Bobby Drake grew up in Boston. When he found out about his powers, he kept them secret until he was forced to use them when his girlfriend was getting attacked by a thug. When Bobby was witnessed, he knew he had to leave his home town. Telling his family he was going off to a prep school, Bobby joined the Xavier Institue and became one of the original X-Men.
