Of course looking up towards Chester Road from near the Station Road junction. BT obviously just change the boxes over time! We've have another monarch since 1948 so the postbox may be different. I can't see the dome on the corner of Gravelly Lane and Somerset Road. I was told that was there in 1946. Perhaps though this photo is a little earlier than the Library's 1948 guess or maybe so far off it is there but isn't clear. I'm no good with vintage cars, any idea what model that is in shot and is that a date clue to someone? This photo was used as a picture for postcards.
Villa Names
There seems no obvious pattern to the house names carved into
house stonework along this road. They would seem to date from
1906 due to dates carved on some Norfolk Road homes. Perhaps just
random by the builder as they sounded nice. Here they are in case
someone can spot a pattern, along with a guess at origins;
Chester Road end
