My Life As... A Child
This is where you find out where it all began,
and how it was for me when I was still wearing Kiki-Lala's
The story starts in a time long long ago, sometime back in the later months of '81. It was a small and little-known township called Redbridge. My parents found a nice little house in the area and had planned to settle down there. Then one night, disaster struck and I was conceived! There was no turning back. 9 months later, my life began.
I don't really remember the first day of it all, but from what I've been told, I was born BLUE. (That's when a baby is born without sufficient oxygen going to the brain.) According to the Doc, I was hyperactive while in my mom's womb, and somehow managed to get the umbraecal cord wrapped around my neck. As you can see, I was never easy, right from even before life began.
Soon after that, my parents decided that they wanted their children to grow up around family, so my parents, my then 2 year old sister and myself, took a long flight back to Malaysia. Spent the first couple of years living with my dad's sister in Paramount Garden, and eventually moved into a place of our own.
I was always the little rascal. Never too eager to listen to instructions, always had to get everyone around me into fits. Started kindergarten at the age of 5, much to the teacher's dismay. At the age of 7, I was forced into a primary school which uses Mandarin as their first language. It was hard because, firstly I had no idea as to what the teacher was mumbling about; and secondly, Chinese characters are so amazing hard to write, let alone remember. To top it all off, I was downright lazy.
It took what seemed like a lifetime to get through that 6 years, but later I found out that everything else in life seems to last a lifetime, except fun and friendship.
