I'm stoked,my new lift kit just arrived 2/3/03.It's a Rusty's 4 inch kit.The picture shows everything it comes with.I'm planning on installing it this weekend.I cant wait! I bought it from BJ'S Offroad,I got it in less than a week and it was cheaper that buying it from rustys.Check Bj's out.He has alot of good stuff.
It's lift kit time woo-hoo!!!
The lift is installed and it looks sweet! I have a few pics here but not as many as I originally wanted to take. It's just hard to remember to take pics when your busy.It took about 8 1/2 hours to complete.Mostly due to stuck bolts.
First things first, gotta get rid of these crappy old shocks.
As i excpected, after 24 years damn near everything was stuck tight. The torch sure came in handy to break things loose.
Gotta have a good impact to do stuff like this. Also helped to have access to a hoist.
Here's the bottom of the newly installed spring and u-bolts.I'm not really sure why I took this picture.
I don't have any pictures of the rear.Mostly because all of the spring mount bolts were rusted solid to the bushing pins, causing me to curse loudly and frequently.Had I remembered to pic up the camera I probably would have just used it as a hammer anyway.
Here is the finished results
A few things to look out for if you are going to do this,Start spraying the bolts and nuts with pb blaster a week or two in advance. Also I would suggest just buying all new bolts before you even start because at least one will break.Make sure all of your brake bleaders will come loose because you have to move a rear brake line. One last thing, make sure you have a large prybar to help guide the rear of the rear spring in place,it is tight! Also when you are done you will need to center your steering spoke.I did not install a drop pitman arm but it is suggested.
