"...Symphonic Rock that transmits an optimism beyond the common..." - Descubre La Caja Pandora

"AETHELLIS' music is more like a cross between Tony BANKS,
Alan PARSONS and Rick WAKEMAN" -
Lise (Hibou), The Prog Archives

Hello and welcome to the "official" Aethellis website (not that we know of any "unofficial" Aethellis websites)!

A little background: Aethellis takes the forms and feel of classic symphonic rock and incorporates a contemporary rhythmic feel. The Aethellis album was spearheaded and recorded in 2002/2003 by classically trained keyboardist/vocalist/hack guitarist/Narcissist Ellsworth Hall and has many influences including classical, synth pop, jazz and even hip-hop. This either represents wide tastes or an inability to focus. He puts this genre wanderlust to good use in his soundtrack work with Ellsounds

Veterans of several bands (most noteably Logos / Affinity in the 80s), the live performing members have been playing tunes from the Aethellis album in addition to other originals by several members that ego-maniac Ellsworth grudgingly allowed. The band also performs classic rock covers so that the audience recognizes SOMETHING.

NEWS UPDATE 7/14/08

Aethellis performances (look Ma, the band gigs!):

The band returned to The Judge's Bench in Ellicott City, MD on July 12. Drummer Mike Harrington retuns to performing with the band on August 10, 2008 for the festival at Havre de Grace, MD.

A special concert is in the planning stages for November which will be videotaped in its entirety for a DVD release and the Tchessi Channel (online video).

Photos from recent gigs are posted at the Live page. We plan to incorporate photos of YOU the audience members in upcoming photo albums!

Recording for the new album is underway and will feature new member Cherylandra on vocals along with Mark Van Natta on guitar and vocals. Ellsworth will again be doing the keyboards, vocals, guitar, acoustic and digital drums. Bassist Erik Marks is scheduled to appear on the album as well.

Ellsworth's Polysix Tips and Tricks is back for classic analog synth fans.

The video version of the song "Hubris" differs somewhat from the album version, features Frances Swarthington, footage shot by Cheryl Hall and quirky band members attempting to synch to the music. The song remained in the Broadjam.com  Progressive Rock Top 10 chart for 6 months, debuting at #1 on March 23, 2003. It also appeared in the Rock (#7), Maryland (#1) and Mid-Atlantic (#5) Top 10 charts.
